The Haven Herald

Each month, the Newsletter Team chooses to award six people for their excellence within the community, FanArt gallery, and FanFiction Archive. This month there will only be five awards. The work of the Newsletter Team is highly classified and can only be persuaded by using hard cash. To win the Newbie of the Month Award, you must be a registered forum member for less than 45 days and/or have less than 80 forum posts.

Member of the Month – MaeveCrowArtemis1
MaeveCrowArtemis1, known as Maeve in the forums, is a very active member, and is probably the nicest person you will ever meet online. She always makes a point to talk to you if she hasn’t seen you online for a while. Maeve actively participates in the Site Team, the Newsletter Team, and the rest of the forum. The amount of work and effort she puts into the site is enormous making her the perfect candidate for this award. Congratulations for your recent promotion to moderator too!

Newbie of the Month – Carino
This month’s favourite newbie is Carino. She’s an extremely intelligent girl who brings life to the Artemis Fowl discussions, and is tons of fun in the Off-Topic forums. Whether she is discussing Holly, Butler or just life in general she is a great person to have around. Carino also runs a fascinating blog. Almost anybody can read it and be entranced.

Avatar of the Month – 1hollyfan
avatar1hollyfan’s avatar is a fun and quirky spin on the original “Die Minerva die” avatar made by darvit. It incorporates a funny line from the book just to tell everybody what she thinks about their hatred of Minerva.

Signature of the Month – Cabaline
Cabaline’s signature deserves the award for the Sig of the Month this issue. It shows a beautifully done, romantic picture with the phrase “So this is what love feels like.” It’s enough to make any romantic sigh. She also proclaims her allegiance to “the Loveless fangirls”, a club that recently has sprung up on Fangathering. If you have ever had an unrequited fictional love, then that is the club for you. All together her signature is a beautiful addition to the board, and always nice to see when your done reading one of her posts. Click here to see her signature.

FanFiction of the Month – Sister Trouble
This month’s fanfiction of the month is called Sister Trouble, by ArtyFowl3. It’s an amazing adventure about a boy and his 10-year-old sister named Janet. They’ve come across a mysterious fairy (though they don’t know that’s what she is) named Ruby, who needs their help. Meanwhile, Holly is sent aboveground to search for a human named Janet who has uncovered the fairy race. Click here to read this story. You won’t be disappointed.

  7. I love the piece on Children’s Literature. If the author happens to see this I’d love to be allowed to quote that off site on one of my profiles. It’s excellent.

  8. I wrote it, and I’m quite honoured that you like it that much! You can quote it, but I’d appreciate it if you could find a way to site it to the Herald. Just a little footnote, it doesn’t have to be big.

  9. Wonderful article on Children’s literature BlackOpal! I’m getting my mother to read it.

Hey dewds!! In the article about Far From Normal, it says something about Dauphin Island. That’s in Alabama. I live like ten minutes from “The Island” as we Mobilians call it. That freaked me out for some reason.

Nice Christmas jingle, by the way. 😉

  10. great article blackopal! i no plenty of people who should probably read this

  11. Another great issue. Really well written guys! I also loved the Children’s Literature piece the most. The whole newsletter was a fantastic read, but that piece in particular stood out. I love how you pulled out the deeper themes from the series. 😀
