Minerva Paradizo

She looks a bit too innocent but I couldn't bare to draw her looking all evil! Anyways, I'm gonna edit it and use Photoshop (if I can manage) so it doesn't look too flat and I'll update that later!

Brown's not that bad. Just try to make it an interesting shade, or pull the reader's attention somewhere else, like her hair for example. Or the shape of her face etc. It's not really about the looks, just how well the author describes the looks. Very Happy

the pic is really good but she needs curlyer hair
AngelicMermaid1994   [Dec 14, 2006 at 11:32 AM]
Thanks. I know she's supposed to have like golden locks but I can't really draw them. Embarrassed You can see that I managed to draw a few on the side of her face...but other than that, I think it would look really bad if I drew her whole head with the style of locks that I do Crying or Very sad

Okay...lots of comments. First, good pic. Although her hair is curly according to the book, if I remember correctly (I might be wrong). Second, Holly Fowl, well done for spoiling it for anyone who might not have read it and be interested. I admit those people are probably a rare breed (lol), as those who care have generally read all of them by now and are getting impatient for the seventh book. Third, holly was eighty in the second book. Where the hell did you get 20/30 from, Celestial Angel? Finally, I'm not sure really where I stand on shipping, but I think probably A/H, although factors must be taken into account such as the age gap Exclamation, species gap Exclamation Exclamation , you know...

cute Cool I like her dress, and her eyes- too bad she's soo annoying in the books! Hopefully Artemis will not get together with her (or Holly, for that matter) in the seventh book. And Celestial Angel, I think you may have been thinking of the part where Colfer talked about howHolly's dad died when she was sixty, and twenty or so years had passed.
AngelicMermaid1994   [Dec 17, 2006 at 06:24 AM]
Hey, the seventh book? I thought there were only five books right now? Or are you counting the Seventh Dwarf?
Celestial Angel   [Dec 17, 2006 at 07:22 AM]
yes!!! they said she was about six or something when her dad died twenty years ago but then in the sixth book they said she was eighty... i'm confused... Shocked

Celestial Angel   [Dec 19, 2006 at 06:37 AM]
artemis fowl. we want to know how old holly really is.
Nicole_artist   [Dec 19, 2006 at 08:28 AM]
She would be eighty something now, because it said she was exactly eighty a few books ago. Arctic incedent I think. Also if you want to know the relativity then if Holly lives to be, say, 1000, then she would be relative to 8 years old. But since somewhere in the book they mentioned how Opal was doing stuff at the age of 3 etc. which is equal to being an infant pretty much. So if we assume that an infant is about 6 months old then it must be different to the ratio of adulthood. Eg, it takes them longer to grow up, but not nearly as long as they live relatively. To put it simply, it's like us being an adult when we're 10-12 yrs old. So if they're an adult when they're, say 40, then Holly isn't too old, she'd be about 25. Confusing, and not exactly technical, but it makes sense when you think about it. God, I sound like a genius. Yay!
AngelicMermaid1994   [Dec 19, 2006 at 10:51 AM]
Er...so can you give me a ratio scale? Like x:y?

pretty eyes Very Happy
UnknownProdigy   [Dec 24, 2006 at 10:34 PM]
Ok sorry, I was referring to the Harry Potter books. To clarify, see both my comment, and Holly Fowl's (which is the 17th on the page).

Okay, regarding Holly's age: In Arctic incident, it says that her father died when she was barely sixty, more than twenty years previous. Now, to me, "barely" means just over, so she was just over sixty. Add MORE THAN twenty years, and she's probably about 81/82 in Arctic incident, therefore probably 82-84 ish to date, ie post-Lost Colony. If anyone disagrees, I'd be happy to hear them out.

Oh and, given fairy longevity, who agrees with me that the offer seen on a poster on p23-24 in the European hardback of Arctic Incident is crap? Direct quote:

TWO-WEEK SOLSTICE TOUR. TWENTY GOLD GRAMS. CHILDREN UNDER TEN TRAVEL FREE.

Children under ten, in fairy terms, is probably roughly equivalent to under 5 months. If you want to know my conversion factor, it's approximately human:fairy = 1:25, based on upper life expectancy of human: 80-ish and fairy:2000-ish. I got that figure from the end of Eternity Code, when Foaly is telling Butler all the procedures that will be used to hide his aging in preparation for the mind-wipe.

Enough babbling from me, lol Embarrassed .

if only we knew eoin colfer's email add (if he has one) then we wouldn't be debating over this subject. at least we get to try out our theories... is that good?
HollyRocka   [Dec 28, 2006 at 09:12 AM]
ARTEMIS AND HOLLY MUST BECOME A COUPLE!!! And I totally agree with you guys, all the good parts of books are left out in the movies! And, as much as I love Arty, He must be punched in the movies. If not, we will all go insane and never be able to read again... Or will we?? Shocked
Also, I love the pic, but I hate Minerva. Damn flirt Mad
Celestial Angel   [Dec 29, 2006 at 02:50 AM]
she's a flirt? Shocked never noticed...
AF_roxz   [Jan 01, 2007 at 11:29 PM]

Celestial Angel   [Jan 05, 2007 at 03:11 AM]
no, I already went there but I didn't see any mention of an email add... I even googled him! One article said that he didn't have an email add but I don't believe that...
