Daughter of Venice, by Donna Jo Napoli
In 1592, Donata lives in her family’s palazzo on Venice’s Grand Canal. As in all noble families, only one daughter and one son will mary; Donata will be sent to a convent. Donata longs to be tutored like her brothers and to see the Venice she had glimpsed only on a map. She comes up with a plan to escape the palazzo and see the world before she is shut away, and to try to find a way to escape her fate. When Donata walks through the door and encounters a Venice she never knew existed, she changes her life, and her family’s life, forever.

The Thief Lord, by Cornelia Funke
This International Bestseller by Cornelia Funke is about two orphans named Prosper and Bo who run away from their evil aunt and uncle. Their mother had many a time told them about how magical Venice is, so now they were going to find out for themselves. They sneak aboard a train and travel to Venice, Italy. Soon, though an annoying private detective hired by their aunt starts snooping around Venice in search of them. Then, just when they were starting to despair from the cold and hunger… The Thief Lord appeared!

A Chalice of Wind, Cate Tiernan (Balefire series)
A Chalice of Wind is about 2 girls, Clio Martin and Thaïs Allard. Thaïs was raised by her father, but a few months before she turns 18, her dad gets involved in a car crash, leading to her having to move in with a total stranger, Axelle. On her first day at school, she meets her twin sister. Her name is Clio Martin, and they didn’t know of each other’s existence before. But there’s always a catch. Clio and Thaïs are witches, and a coven of witches wants their power all for themselves…

This is the first book of the series, the rest of the books are: A circle of ashes, a feather of stone, and A necklace of water.

  1.  I’m so happy to see that out little community is still going strong, I was  getting discouraged there for a while, but  seeing such a great newsletter come out of so much adversity is really inspiring. Also I love the new comic, all and all my favorite newsletter to date. keep up the wonderful work and thanks for making me smile.~Kagoma

of the reviews you’ve put this time, i liked the thief lord (i’ve read the book and seen the movie XD)
i also liked the part about the artemis fowl movie. actually (even though i wanna watch it) i don’t look foward to it much because i will probably be disapointed… i suppose i’ll just have to wait and see 😛

Wow, guys, I’m flattered– thanks a ton! 😀

Speaking of someone who has read and owns “The Theif Lord,” I definitely agree that it’s an awesome book. And the comic is great– if you’re reading this, iesnoth, I’m going through Netherworld withdrawl!

    -Target Aquired

(Yes, I do know that it’s technically spelled, “acquired.” AQUIRE is actually an acronym for Aquatic Information Retrieval, and how it relates to my username, I’m not sure. But oh well; I like either)

  8. Cool! I’ve been here since december and yet this is the first time I’ve read the haven herald. I should have starting reading them early! I really liked the articule on books vs. technology seeing as I’m pretty hopeless with technology. xD

  9. Great job, guys!!!!This is why it’s so great working with you all!!!I love the articles(BlackOpal-great job)!Great comic as well.I’m surprised even though I saw The Haven Herald already!Congratulations everybody!I’m really glad our readers are happy! You guys are awesome!!!

  10. Yay! FG is back on! News has been really slow recently, but I’m glad you guys still got the Haven Herald out! Yay!

  11. Wow! This issue is awesome! Except last issue was a hundred times better. Foaly sounds OOC, I didn’t get the comic, and it wasn’t as funny as the last issue… However, I DO agree that moviemakers are substituting quality for excitement. Eragon the movie was just totally crappy.
Tch! How long till the movie comes out already? They’re keeping adoring fans on their toes!

  20. Hi! I’m geniustkw, Singaporean AF Fan,do you need to buy HH, or how do you get it, and can I contribute, just that mine is a long 13-chapter long story.

  21. I feel so much hppaeir now I understand all this. Thanks!

  22. Hei Рs̴ fin girlander Рjeg er langt fra s̴ avansert i min hekling:) Er veldig gjerne med i tr:nHingeke)na en fin kveld Рklem fra Bente.

  23. Thanks for this reminder… how easy it is to slip into really just thinking about bringing blessing to myself. I’d never say it that way, but isn’t that what I so often want? Maybe my family too, but all too often not much broader than that. I really doubt that God has so richly blessed me for me to so narrowly share the blessing…

  24. This info is the cat’s pajamas!

  25. The steering on the kit is improved over previous designs that I have seen on this model of truck. Steering under high power is the same from truck to truck. You get used to it and learn to have a light finger. You also figure out that lower power on the start for ESC settings allows you to get to speed over wheelies.

  26. That’s an ingenious way of thinking about it.
