Hello, fellow FG-ers!

Okay, this is a story that was formerly a project between shaadia and I, but with her permission, I am going to resume the fic myself.

I will highlight shaadia’s writing in green, and my writing in purple, until I get to where I picked the story up, which will them be resumed in black.

The figure, obviously an elf, had sorrow in her eyes as she stepped forward, white dress trailing behind.

There was another figure. Huge. Eerie spiral runes glowing crimson on black skin. Its eyes were red. The creature spoke.

‘You thought you saw the last of Leon Abbot? You thought wrong, Artemis Fowl.’

The elf replied shakily. ‘Artemis never said that we’d seen the last of you. Artemis…’

‘Artemis! ARTEMIS, wake up before I shoot you!’

Artemis opened eyes he didn’t realize he was closing. Holly was alert, neutrino already in her hands.

‘Another dream? D’Arvit, will it ever end?’  Artemis groaned. ‘I can’t help it, can I?’

Holly lowered her gun. ‘Sorry. It just freaks everyone out to see you muttering nonsense in your sleep like that. What was the dream this time?’

Artemis sighed. ‘Nothing. Just Leon Abbot planning revenge…or something like that. It didn’t make much sense.’

‘Sooo…’ Holly rested an elbow on her knee. ‘Ever since getting back to life…you dreamt about demons a lot. Why?’

Artemis shook his head. ‘It is strange,’ he agreed.

Holly frowned. ‘Last night it was a tower underwater. Before that it was you and Kelp, fighting demons or something. What’s happening?’

‘I don’t know. Maybe there’s a reason,’ replied Artemis.

Right then, there was a buzzing noise. Holly pulled out her communicator. Foaly was on the other end. The one word he said was scary enough:

Problem.’

OPS booth, Haven City

Foaly trotted up and down the room, anxious.

Holly was getting irritated with this. ‘Foaly! Stop that and tell us what the problem is!’

Foaly gulped. ‘You won’t like it. I was monitoring through camera feed elsewhere in Haven, and this is what I found.’

His fingers moved  quickly across the keyboard. On screen appeared a dark, blurred figure.

‘You thought you saw the last of Leon Abbot? You thought wrong, Artemis Fowl.’

Artemis gasped. Those exact words.

It continued speaking. ‘The king of Hybras is back, Fowl. Accept it. And now…’

There was an evil, smug grin on its face.

‘…And now I shall choose my queen. You cannot win human. I will wipe your race from existence. My army is coming.’

In the flash of a blade, obvoiusly Abbot’s, he was gone and nothing was left on screen.

‘Well?’ demanded Foaly. ‘Do you know something? What was that about? He was talking to you.’

Holly folded her arms. ‘Right.’

Artemis stared at the blank screen. Abbot’s words were repeating inside his head.

The king of  Hybras is back…

…And now I shall choose my queen.

Queen…what did that mean? Did it have some connection with his dream?

Artemis rid his brain of the possibility. It was a coincidence, nothing more.

Holly seemed to be thinking the same thing. ‘Tell me, Artemis, what exactly was that dream?’

Artemis felt suddenly nervous. Usually, he would have explained-partly because Foaly was around and he could show off- but he found it difficult.

‘It’s just…eh, Nothing. Abbot was in it, but it could be a coincidence…’

‘Tell me now.’

‘Nothing happened.’

Foaly grinned. ‘Wow. Nice opportunity to test my invention.’

***************

‘Ready?’ called Foaly from outside the glass.

‘This is unnecessary,’ protested Artemis. ‘And reading minds is illegal.’

Foaly smirked. ‘I have a warrant.’

Suddenly and without warning, the gadget on Artemis’s wrist started buzzing violently.

All that he’d seen in a dream last night appeared on Foaly’s screen. The elf and the centaur watched eagerly.

There was Abbot. ‘You thought you saw the last of Leon Abbot? You thought wrong, Artemis Fowl.’

The other figure was an elf in a long white dress, sorrow and tears in a set of mismatched eyes. Holly took a while to recognize herself. ‘Oh no. Please, no…’

Life is pretty screwy sometimes. But you know what they say, lifes not fair. Eventually you get used to it…. *sigh*
