“Tiger Sharks,” said Minerva. A disturbing silence hung in the air, broken minutes later by Silver, Piper and Holly screaming simultaniously, “WHAT?”
“I thought you’d be expecting it,”sighed the French girl.”You know what Zidan is like.”
“So that son of a b** stuffed some sharks into his building’s self destruct controls unit,”muttered Loken.”I’m really not surprised.”
Foaly’s voice hollered from Holly’s helmet speakers.”Forget your stupid plan,Artemis. It won’t work.Let’s just pack up and go home,we can finish this war on another day.”
The human’s fingers curled into a fist.”No,Foaly,”he gritted his teeth. “Listen to yourself. This is the closest we’ll ever get to defeating Zidan.”
Silver looked at him, aghast.”What? It won’t work,Mud Boy! Those sharks are going to tear us,limb from limb–”
“It’s falling on deaf ears,Silver.”
The other elf looked up at her human friend. For a moment, her eyes wandered about his face and Holly realized how…grown up he looked. It was hard to even think of him as the ambitious 12 year old who kidnapped her all those years ago. “Arty,”she whispered.”This plan is fantastic, but we really can’t put our lives at stake like this.”
“No,you can’t…” Holly couldn’t finish the sentence.
D’Arvit, she really wanted to.
“You can’t give up now,”completed Holly,smiling.
Artemis smiled back. It was a smile so small, yet genuine and amazing.
She slowly stepped forward, her eyes at level with the human’s chest. She looked up at his face again.”Damn it, mud boy.Lean in over a bit, won’t you?” Artemis obliged, but before he could make much progress,Holly grabbed his collar and brought his lips crashing down to hers.
Piper forcefully turned Shaadia’s head away before the kid could see any more of it.
Foaly almost gagged.
