Summary: This is what I think Gnommish would sound like. There are some other rules to this language. Just ask me if you have a question.

    Geasa ~ Rules
    P’Shog ~ Sprite
    Ka-Dulan ~ Fairy (Or faery)
    D’Arvit ~ (The “F” word OR the “S” word)
    Bleber(s) ~ (Likely to be the “F” word [noun] F****ers “…sullen little blebers…” (~Opal Koboi, TTP) “…Dozy little blebers.” (~Holly Short, TAC)

This is what we know so far. Note how Geasa and P’Shog both contain the letter “r” (Rules; Sprite)
In the books, at one point, it said that Gnommish sounds like “grunting” or “clearing one’s throat.”

In my opinion, I think that English is not the language that corresponds with Gnommish, but more likely one of the ancient human languages. Artemis decoded The Book by comparing symbols from Egyptian hieroglyphs. Doing some research, I found that that each symbol represented a certain sound. I have two theories on how Artemis learned to speak Gnommish.

Theory One: Artemis used his hieroglyphic symbol comparisons and just corresponded the sounds to the symbols used.

This theory is unlikely because 1) we cannot do this in real life, and 2) Artemis did not start speaking Gnommish until TLC.

Theory Two: Artemis used stolen fairy technology to learn the fairy language.

This theory is more likely because, well, look at it, it makes sense. Artemis could have used the computers in the helmets to “talk” in Gnommish, as the computers do respond to the person wearing the helmet. Because Artemis had multiple helmets, taken from the LEP “crack team,” the language settings could have been different for each helmet. (For example, one helmet could have been set to the English language, and another could have been set to Gnommish. First, he listens to the helmet set to English and records it’s response to a certain action. Then, using the same action, listening to the response of the helmet set to Gnommish.

    (Presses NV button)
    Eng. Helmet: Night-Vision Mode Activated.
(records response; goes to next helmet, presses NV button)
    Gnomm. Helmet: (Gnommish Response)
    (records response)

    OR

Artemis could have used his fairy communicator that is diguised as a ring to learn Gnommish.

As you can probably see, I have too much time on my hands. I also have given this some deep thought.

Perhaps we can work on this together? I refuse to believe that this is just a fictional language.

  2. Mastermind, please categorize this in announcements, since it it not a fanfiction story. I will only let you break this rule THIS time, any other things like this will be deleted since it is not a story.

Whoa, easy on the cussing shaadia. I’m not even that bad. At least not when I type. In person, though, is another story…

Anywhoo, this is really neat, but I have a lot of time on my hands like SP, so I have tried to decode it, too, but without real success.

    It’s still cool, though.

Luke is not my name. I just like it. I am a star wars fan (that might be it).

  16. Hmph, like you can fool me!
PS: I got an email from you remember? that said your name was luke. And anyway don’t give up on the cross species battle just because I have ship stuff in it!!
Honestly, there isn’t so much of it until the end.
    I SWEAR.

Y’know, you can change the name people see when an email is sent. I just happen to have mine set to my actual name. Kind if. What you see is my nickname and the first letter of my last name, but I could change that if I wanted to.

For instance, I am beta-ing a Green Lantern story for someone on FF.net, who’s username is Lexus Manna, but the name that pops up on the email is Hawke Deal. I highly doubt this is their actual name.

ME may have simply done the same thing and changed the view name to Luke.

Wow, this comment, along with most of the others, are pretty much spam. I am honestly surprised Amy has not burst into flames at this point…

  18. ok, sorry loken. if you dont like us using your real name, you can just trash my earlier comment. please do it. its spam anyway, so before amy sees….please. she will get mad at me. oh yea, another thing. why dont you people like being called your actual name? this isnt facebook or something for everyone to know. besides me ony use them in comment conversations which means people wont just find them easily. and everyone knows my full name, my country, my age, my favourite tv show, etc., but thar doesnt do any harm, does it? yes, maybe i dont understand, being an immature eleven year old, but i dont see the deal, really….

Sorry this isn’t a review- please be mindful that we are being attacked by spammers- please ignore those posts (as of now- 5/14/2013)as I attempt to figure out a way to remedy this. Thanks! -Tress

I forgot some important rules to my translation: if a word has a double letter, like “all”, you would write the letter only once (ayalo). Also, if the translation has double letters (Deaayazoten, or daze), you should drop on of the letters (Deayazoten is correct). Finally, punctuation; It’s just like normal English, except the apostrophe. I’m not sure what do with “d'”, or “f”. It would look weird if you wrote it like “d”si”. If anyone reads this, just comment on ideas for the apostrophe. D’ayaroenwienlo.
