“We are gathered here today to mourn the loss of a fierce friend. At times he may have not been exactly as we expected, and for that we celebrate him. He has saved us on countless occasions, and for that the people honor him. It is a sad and terrible day for all of us. We mourn the parting of our dearest friend Artemis Fowl the second. We will now have some good byes from his closest friends.” said an old council member. The sky above ground was dark gray and rain poured from the heavens as if they too, were crying. Everyone wore black and not a single eye was dry. The entire whole of haven had been gathered to Artemis’s last stand before he returned to the earth upon his property in Ireland. The council member stepped down and a beautiful red haired elf took his place. “Artemis Fowl was…is my best friend. I never thought…” Here Holly’s voice broke. She didn’t hold back the tears as they flew down her cheeks. She took a deep breath and continued. “I never thought this day would come. I had always considered him one of the people. That maybe…he-he’d live as long as me. I was a fool. Artemis was human, but he was just as good as any of us, better. I will always keep Artemis alive in my heart. His story will be passed down from my children to theirs. He won’t be forgotten.” as she finished she turned and walked up to Artemis’s open casket. “Goodbye.” she whispered and placed a kiss on his forehead. She lay down her flowers and stepped down. Trouble took his wife into his arms and held her tight. Holly’s son clung to his father’s leg as he too cried. There was a soft whinny and everyone looked up to see Foaly standing in Holly’s place. “Artemis was, as you all know a genius. He was…was my idol. I looked to him for help and he looked to me. I admire him greatly. I never thought I’d live to see the day that he would…that he would pass. I only wish could have gone before him.” Foaly finished and trotted up to Artemis’s casket. He lay down his flowers and said goodbye. He also placed a journal in his casket. A journal of everything he ever created. He walked away tears falling from his eyes. Cabiline gave him a comforting squeeze as tears fell from her eyes as well. “That concludes the good bye ceremony.” an elder said. He shed a single tear and shut Artemis’s casket forever. In the crowd Artemis’s daughter, Angel, sank to her knees. She shuddered with uncontrollable sobs. Afterward everyone stood for a moment and slowly began to depart, each taking a book of all Artemis Fowl’s adventures. Trouble helped Mulch bring the casket into a specially designed ship. Once they put the casket in the back Holly, Her son, Angel, Foaly, and Cabiline climbed in. Upon arrival of Fowl Manor they carried the casket to the backyard. They shakily lowered the casket into the ground and each took a shovel. One by one they threw dirt on top of his casket until it was buried. Angel, with shaky hands, put the tomb stone at the top. It read Artemis Fowl the second. Beloved father, husband, brother, and above all friend. The all lay down fresh flowers on top of the new grave and said their last farewells. Angel ran into the manor with tears flowing from her eyes. Holly looked away and began walking with back with everyone else to the ship. Holly looked back at the row of headstones. ‘Artemis, Butler, Juliet and Minerva. All of them are…gone.’ she thought. A new set of tears fell from her eyes as she boarded the ship. This time she didn’t look back. As the ship headed back towards Haven the sky turned black. For black is the color of loss. The people had lost a valuable friend and the world lost a great person.
