Another holiday story, since my last one turned out rather good. I’m very happy with this one, and I hope you are too.

“Artemis,” Juliet sighed sadly as he slumped to the breakfast table.

“Yes, Juliet?”

“I’m so sorry to tell you this, but,” She was starting to tear up. Artemis began to get anxious. He didn’t know what could be wrong. He hadn’t seen his parents at all this morning. Had something happend to them? “It’s April Fool’s Day!” She giggled.

“Juliet, I have no time for an insignificant holiday such as this. April Fool’s Day is immature and a waste of my time. So, please, refrain from pulling pranks and silly gimmicks as you just did.” He didn’t look up at her.

“Yessir, Artemis,” she whispered. She quietly ate her omlette.

“What would you like for breakfast, Artemis?” Butler asked him.

“An egg-white omlette with fresh tomatoes, a slice of whole-grain toast with natural spread, and a tall glass of fresh squeezed orange juice, please.” Artemis picked up the book that was lying out in front of him and flipped to the book-marked page. On the page was what looked like spider guts and a few in-tact hairy legs. He set the book down on the table to where Juliet could clearly see.

“What did I just go over with you?” He asked her. She tried to look dismal, but yet, could not help but smile.

“April Fool’s?” she whispered through dispersed laughs. Artemis rolled his eyes and left the kitchen. He went to the bathroom and got in the shower. When he had just gotten comfortable, the water went from lukewarm to blazing hot. He jumped out of the shower-head’s way. Over the noise of the shower, he could hear water draining in the toilet. Artemis peeked his head from the curtains. Juliet stood with her hand on the toilet handle, grinning a whale of a smile at him.

“April Fool’s,” she laughed. She ran out of the bathroom and turned down the hall. He grumbled about her immaturity, but soon got over it. He finished in the bathroom, and walked back to his room in a bathrobe. Artemis walked over to his walking closet and slid open the door. There were no black suits; no burnished shoes; no Armani ties. All there were were bright blue suits with ruffled shirts and bow ties. He searched the whole closet for a sign of anything black, but only found a black t-shirt and a pair of jeans. There was a note sitting on the floor.

Artemis rolled his eyes as he grudgingly slipped the shirt over his head. When he was dressed, he examined himself in the mirror. His hair was wet and hung in his face; the shirt was tight, like a sports shirt, and the pants were slightly baggy. He flipped his hair to the side like he had seen many boys at Saint Bart’s do, and he had to admit; he didn’t look half bad. Sure, it wasn’t his normal ideal for a typical day, but this was apparently what all the girls were into to. Maybe this wasn’t a bad thing after all.

As he walked out of his room to go fix his hair, his new look was crushed. Or, should I say splattered with paint? Artemis looked back at the doorway and noticed the invisible string he had tripped over. He looked up and saw the tipped can of paint that had spilled on his head. Juliet came out from behind the door. Artemis couldn’t help it any longer. This was the LAST straw. He wiped a glob of paint from his face and hurled it in Juliet’s direction. As we all know, Artemis isn’t very athletic, but, thankfully, Juliet was too busy laughing to notice Artemis’ rage. The paint hit her right in the forehead.

“April Fool’s,” he said. Artemis smiled that vampire smile. He had some big plans in store for her.
