The idea for this story came to me in the middle of the night! Seriously, I woke up, and thought to myself “That’s a good idea! Maybe I should write that down…” I don’t mind critisism, but don’t be too harsh. This IS my first fanfiction. I just thought it would be cool to have a little romance betwwen Artemis and Juliet…
Beckett and Miles, Artemis Fowl’s younger twin brothers, were playing loudly with their toys, paying absolutely no attention to the Butler siblings arguing in the kitchen.
“Dom, please,” begged Juliet Butler, kneeling on the floor in front of him. “Why waste money on a nanny when I can look after the twins?”
”Juliet, a bodyguard of your caliber should be guarding a politician, not playing nanny to a couple of three year olds!” Domovoi Butler said.
Juliet’s cheeks began to color. “I could be the twin’s bodyguard! And who says I want to be a bodyguard? Ever think of that, you big ape?”
”No!” shouted Butler ”I will not let you carry through with this!”
“Dom, please,” cried Juliet, getting up ”Ever since the twins were born, I’ve treated them like little siblings. I love them!”
Butler began to get angry. “I don’t care! You’ll probably smother them with a blankie or have them take a nap in the food processor,” he stated bluntly. “You cannot be the twins nanny. I‘m calling a sitter first thing tomorrow.“
Just then, Artemis walked in. “Problems?” he inquired, pouring himself a glass of spring water from a bottle.
“Yes!” cried Juliet, giving her older brother a scathing look. ”Dom-Dom won’t let me be the twins’ nanny. I promise I’ll look after them and take care of them. Please Arty?”
Butler walked out of the kitchen. He couldn’t stand being called ‘Dom-Dom’. He’d had enough of that argument anyway.
“Hmmmm….” said Artemis, considering her statement. ”I suppose I’ll talk to Butler tonight about it.”
“Oh, thank you Arty!” she said, kissing him soundly on the cheek. Artemis turned slightly red.
“Please don’t call me Arty,” he said, turning around.
That night, Artemis talked to Butler about Juliet watching the twins. He agreed to let Juliet take care of Beckett and Miles for a few days, but in case things didn’t work out, he’d be looking up nannies in the meantime. Not that Butler actually had a choice on whether or not to let Juliet watch the twins, but Artemis would like to have Butler’s permission before employing her.
The next morning, Artemis went up to Juliet’s room he knocked, and she answered quickly.
“Oh, hi Arty,” she said. “What did the big oaf say?”
“I talked to him last night, and he agreed to let you watch the twins for a few days, and if everything goes well, then you may be their nanny.”
“Oh, thank you so much Arty!” she cried, and kissed him on the lips. Artemis did not know how long they remained like that, but he knew it was longer than a minute.
Suddenly, she broke away and skipped off. Artemis realized with a start that Butler was standing in the doorway. Artemis wondered how long he had been standing there. Butler looked simultaneously furious, happy, and, could it be, proud? When Artemis looked at him, he walked off, leaving Artemis standing dumbfounded in the middle of Juliet’s room.
The next evening, Artemis sat quietly through dinner with Butler. His parents were in Germany visiting friends, and Juliet had not come down except to grab snacks in between meals. Neither of them spoke the whole dinner. Halfway through his dish of lamb, the manservant departed, leaving Artemis alone with his thoughts. Secretly, Artemis was glad for the solitude. It gave him a chance to think about his current situation.
Juliet now thought that Artemis was in love with her, as she had kissed her back. Artemis silently scolded himself. What would Minerva do when she found out? She and Artemis had been going out for nearly a year now, and Artemis feared that she would do something drastic. There was still the problem of the nanny, as Juliet had barely come done since the kiss the previous morning. He predicted that she wouldn’t come down for a few more days as well. And worse, his bodyguard had barely said a word to him since he witnessed the incident. Artemis had no one to talk to about this, he concluded. He would have to approach Butler.
He headed up to his bodyguard’s room. He barely had time to knock when the door flew open. “Yes Artemis?” he asked, his voice slightly high pitched.
“I need to talk to you,” Artemis said quietly.
Artemis sat on Butler’s bed, and the manservant sat in a chair a few feet away. ”I don’t know why Juliet kissed me,” began Artemis, speaking to the floor “I went into her room to tell her that she could be the twins’ nanny for a few days, and she just kissed me. I suppose it was partially my fault for kissing back. It was the heat of the moment.” Artemis looked at the bodyguard. ”I’m sorry old friend. You’re pretty mad, I imagine?”
“More than anything I’m wondering why you didn’t come to me sooner. Don’t bother answering.” He raised an eyebrow suspiciously. “Did you mean that kiss?”
“Butler, Juliet is a good friend and I love her like a sister. But I love Minerva. No Butler, I didn’t mean that kiss.”
Butler sighed, sounding relieved but disappointed. “I thought not. I suppose I must go talk to her.”
As he got up to leave, Artemis stopped him.
“No, old friend, I must try to let her down myself. But if I can’t get to her, you may help me.”
As he left, he felt strange. Why had his manservant seemed disappointed? Had he expected something between him and Juliet? He frowned. He mustn’t let things get out of hand. He pushed the nagging doubts to the back of his mind. But he couldn’t help hesitating at Juliet’s door. What should he say? He hardly had time to think about that now. He had barely knocked before Juliet opened the door
“Yes Arty?“ she said brightly.
“Listen Juliet. That kiss was a mistake. It meant nothing to me. My heart belongs to Minerva. Don’t you understand?”
“Oh, I know Arty!” she said cheerfully, not looking remotely abashed. Then she closed the door in Artemis’s face. He scowled. Had she understood a word he had said? He sighed. Women
As Artemis had predicted, Juliet didn’t come down from her room for days. She only left her to get something to eat, skipping to the kitchen, grabbing a snack, and skipping back. Butler tried to talk to her several times, but she didn’t seem to accept that Artemis didn’t love her back. Eventually, Butler had to yell at her to make her understand, which, of course, reduced her to tears. Finally she came down and began to take care of the twins. She did it well, and Butler didn’t end up having to call a nanny. She seemed to stop crying after a few days of playing with the boys, but Artemis hardly had time to think about that. He had a date with Minerva that night and he had to get ready.
Like it? I imagine that my more recent stories are better (I just updated this).

UMMMMMMM Juleit is Artemis’s senior and eventhough Minerva/Artemis and Artemis/Holly is some what getting old the Juliet/Artemis would be a nice change. But Holly, girl that story was well written and way better then mine. Keep up the good work.:D

I’ve read all your stories posted on the site, and I actually like this one the best. It’s very well written, and it’s refreshing to see a romance that deals only with the humans. Nice work!
Oh, and is this done, or are you continuing it? It’s hard to tell.
