I own the fic, but not the story it’s based on. Please guess the pairing.
Once upon a time, there was a boy, and there was a girl, and that was all that mattered.
Once upon a time, she fell in love. She fell in love with his eyes, and his heart and his devotion and the way his big hands scratched his head as the hair grew back.
Once upon a time, there was a man, who never acted like a boy, who fell in love with a girl. He fell in love with her accent, and her smile, and how the way she talked reminded him of everything that once made him happy.
And, once upon a different time, it wouldn’t have mattered that he was in his late thirties, and she was in her teens. In that time, it wouldn’t have mattered that his job required him to never fall in love, ever. If they lived there, no one would frown upon them, no one would think he was incompetent, and no one would count her seducing him as rape.
They did not live in that time.
It mattered that she was turning fifteen, and that he was turning thirty-seven.
It mattered that he wasn’t allowed to fall in love.
It mattered that it would be considered disgusting.
It mattered that any physical love-making would be legally considered rape.
Once upon a time, there was a man, and there was a girl, and they fell in love. She was too young, and he was forbidden. Once upon a time, they wished for that “once upon a time” fairy-tale ending, but “once upon a time” never came.
