A/N: This is based off of some of my camp experiences, and I had an aweome time even though there was no technology, sniff. If you ever have a chance to go to an away camp, go for it. Also, this takes place after TAI, and Artemis’ parents have sent him to camp, ‘for his own good’.

“It’s been too long it’s been too long, for you to call back, and normally I would just forget that, except for the fact it was my birthday, my stupid birthday,” Potential Breakup Song, Aly & AJ, Insomniatic.

Melina’s POV

On the nights of a new moon, tragedies often occur. Tonight I fear that may be the case for my children, for a new enemy has emerged, and he knows about Zatolia. This is the worst night for this to happen, for Lydia and Zandor’s magic is unstable on nights such as these, like mine was when I was still alive.

I hate my inability to help them, for will I can watch over them, I can do little else . . . for if worse comes to worse, they will have to save Zatolia.

With their powerful lunar magic, comes great responsibility . . . and hopefully with Zala’s help, everything will be fine.

One hour earlier.

“Look at all the stars!” Anna gasped, as the Gilligan’s Island 2 camp stopped to stare at the stars.

“Is that the North Star?” Chris asked, looking at a bright star in the other direction.

“No, that is the South Star, also known as Zatolia, named such by a Native American tribe. According to their legends, Zatolia is inhabited by magical creatures, from which they are descended.” Artemis commented.

“Yeah right,” Chrys rolled her eyes, obviously she thought that it was all a load of garbage.

“It is also said that every ten years, the star shines brighter then ever, along with the moon because of the magic in Zatolia. For every decade, it is said that four people of lunar magic unleash some of their magic to stop Zatolia from falling into darkness. It’s also said that two of them were murdered, and two successors are being trained.” Artemis continued, “But it is all legend, and is most likely completely false anyway. Still, it makes you wonder . . .”

The next day.

Zala’s POV

“Lydia, be careful!” I shouted at my younger sister, who was twirling her arrow like a baton.

“Relax, Zal, I’m not going to get hurt.” she replied twirling it behind her back.

“Can you at least put more clthes on? You’re going to catch a cold.” I said, looking at her outfit disapprovingly. She was wearing a baggy ZTF T-shirt, which was tied up with a hair band, exposing her bandaged stomach; a purple beanie; thigh high rainbow socks; and fingerless gloves; and a pair of short shorts. No arm guard, because unlike me, Lydia is a dare devil and risk taker. She also doesn’t see any point in safety. ”You shouldn’t let your mid-riff show.”

“It’s not showing, it’s still covered in bandages from the accident. What are you worrying about anyway? That I’ll have problems with guys?” She responded, knocking her arrow, and flipping her head so that her long hair was out of her eyes. Her tone darkening, she added: ”Not like I’d have any, I’ve never been asked out. Instead, I have an arranged marriage.” Pulling back the bowstring, she let go, and the arrow whizzed through the air.

Thwok, “Aldore is a nice boy. Nice bulls eye.” I commented, then noticed the thin line of blood on her left arm, “The bowstring snapped against your forearm.” I sighed, “That’s why you need an arm guard, so you won’t get hurt, you’ve got enough scars on your arms.”

She shrugged, acting like she couldn’t feel the pain, all traces of the airy care-free girl she was a moment ago were gone. She snapped her fingers, and her arrow returned to her right hand. “I’m alright, and it’s not going to scar.” she replied, putting the arrow back in her quiver. “I need to go to practice, see you Zala. Also, I don’t care if he’s a ‘nice boy’, I love someone else.”

“Can you at least put a bandage on your arm?” I called after her.

Wordlessly she continued to walk away, and pulled out a bandage, which she used to bandage her arm.

One Review for “The South Star: Zatolia”

  1. Helen Says:

    Er…

I didn’t really get who all those people are but I get the general idea. Nice storyline, by the way. I love it. :)

Update quick, girly, ’cause I can’t wait to see what you’ve got planned for the characters.

OOHH, frick, now I’ve got to do my dreaded homework. It’s a compo, in case you’re wondering, and of course I’m gonna write about 600 words. For real. Oh, god, my blisters are going to pop up again.

Oh, okay, you are probably sick and tired of reading my moan about my life, but I can’t help it.

Anyway, bye, want to see your next story real bad.

    Helen
