Their Caribbean cruise set off on September 21, 1985, and were filled with wonder and fond memories. They enjoyed the luaus and the midnight buffet, and Holly even got to swim with some unpolluted dolphins. On the eighth day of paradise, however, disaster struck. Later, Artemis wondered at how it didn’t strike sooner. On the way to the pool, to meet Holly, Artemis ran into a tall woman giggling with her boyfriend… no, fiancee.
“Oh, Timmy, you didn’t have to pay for such an expensive trip just to propose… oh!”
The woman cried as Artemis accidently bumped her, knocking her camera and a small leather ring case to the ground. Artemis immediately bent to pick up the items, and handed them back to the woman. Then, he froze.
“I said, what’s your name, child.” The woman said loudly in an Irish accent.
“Mo–mo—” It was his parents. He dropped her things again and ran away.
Atremis and Holly stayed on the next island they stopped at after Holly got artemis to settle down.
“I’ve disrupted the time stream,” he realized in horror. “At the very end… I ruined it.”
“We’ve been disrupting the time stream since we landed in the woods next to Fowl Manor in the sixteenth century,” Holly insisted, and she packe dhis things for him, dragged him from his cabin, and snuck into a resort on the small island of Antigua. The stayed in the islands till 2000, and Artemis kept tabs on his parents and, later on, himself, to make sure the time stream was not too drastically altered.
They then camped out outside fowl Manor, watching woth some amusement and horror their own antics. Soon, they developed an obsession with following themselves around, remarking on what they should or shouldn’t have done from a distance. Finally, the day came.
“The last piece of the puzzle,” Artemis sighed. “We’re going to Taiwan 101.”
this was the toughest part for Holly. Now fully aware that their close friendship was about to come to an end, Holly had half a mind to knock Minerva Paradizo so that their little adventure never would have happened. But even if she was able to, she wouldn’t have. What she and Artemis had was special. They were closer than ever, though not in the romantic way. And she suddenly had an angry hunger to be back with her own people. She could barely keep still as they followed Butler back to Fowl Manor.
To their surprise, Butler wasn’t surprised when they showed up again behind him.
“Have a good trip, Artemis?” He sinply said, noting Artemis’s aged appearance and opting to say nothing. Artemis would fill him in later.
