Holly decided to do something else, and this one didn’t even involve the DNA coder. Just shielding.

Holly shimmered out of visibility. She flew in and hovered over Artemis. He was sipping on a cup of coffee and reading a encyclopedia. She took something out of her pocket. A pouch of pure opium.

She quickly slipped the drug into the caffeinated drink. The young man took a sip. Instantly, the narcotic went into his bloodstream, causing him to become slow, forgetful, and sleepy. He slumped in his hair.

As though on cue, Minerva came in. “Artemis? I need to talk to you.”

Artemis opened his eyes. “I’m here.”

“I know you’re there. I need to tell you something. I went to a marriage counselor today.”

“What’s a marriage counselor?”

“You know what a marriage counselor is! Stop playing dumb.”

“I’m not playing dumb.”

“Anyway, I told him how you have been acting strangely.”

“How have I been acting strangely?”

“When you went to the strip club and ordered a pool!”

“I did that?”

“Yes.”

“When?”

“These past few weeks.”

“I don’t remember.”

“Yes you do! What is wrong with you, Artemis?”

“What were we talking about?”

Minerva‘s face began to color. “You acting strangely!”

“Who?”
“You!!!!”

The Persephone came toddling in. “Mommy, I wasn’t supposed to tell you this, but earlier a fairy came in a few weeks ago and she told me not to tell you.”

Artemis seemed to shake off the drugs for a few moments. “What did the fairy look like?” he said gently to his daughter.

Persephone thought for a second. “Well, she had orange hair…”

Orange hair? thought Holly incredulously.thought Holly incredulously.“… And brown eyes. Oh, and brown skin.”

“It was weird. She pointed this thing at me then turned into me. Then she told me to wait upstairs until she came back.”
Minerva looked from Artemis to Persephone, then back again.

Artemis’s eyes widened with realization. “Minerva, what was the marriage counselor’s name?”

“Faire E. Copp… Oh my God! Fairy Cop, why didn’t I see it before? It was Holly the whole time!”

Better get out of here..Artemis and Minerva continued to put the pieces of the puzzle together. “Persephone, did Daddy ever take you to see naked women?”

Minerva apologized to Artemis. “I’m sorry! I just thought…”

“It’s okay. I understand.”

“But why would Holly do such a thing?”

“Well, she always had disapproved of our marriage…”

Artemis resolved not to say anything to the fairy until h thought the time was right.

About two weeks later, Holly felt her communicator vibrating. It was Artemis.

“Yes Artemis?”

“Why did you do those things. I know it was you.”
Holly looked incredibly guilty. “I’m sorry! I don’t know why I did them. It was so immature. Please forgive me.”

Artemis appeared to consider it for a minute. “Okay, just never do anything like that ever again.”

“I promise.”
