Don’t believe everything happiness says
Nothing feels better than hiding these days
Happiness, the perfect heaven. What was happiness? Holly did not believe in it. A death here, a death there, a lost friend and finally a lost love… Her life was grief, hell. Not the heaven of happiness. Every day she felt like hiding, in a catatonic sleep to think.
We bury our fears in the drinks, in these tears
For the days we believed we could fly
The waiter passed out a drink, with a sad smile. Holly was sitting at a bar, drinking. Half drunk, she was floating in that all too familiar, feeling of loss. Those days she believed that she could fly, back before her mother died. She had love, happiness.
Call up your brothers and sisters and friends
We’ll go back to the place where the night never ends
Call, my brother, my sister. She was sitting in a chair, her auburn falling in front of her eyes. She stood up straightened and smashed a hand into the table, it splintered. She cried, until a ring broke and she grabbed the phone. It was her, him; it was them. Standing in the doorway, was Juliet and Artemis. She screamed, they were back; a family reunion.
We’ll remember the fires, the burning car tires
Boy how in the hell did we get here?
The wind blew in her hair, the glow of a fire light her face up revealing a sad smile. She remembered, with Trouble and Grub. A short log fell into the fire, throwing sparks into the air. White ashes, floated down onto her hair. They used to call all their friends and party late into the night, and before their parents found out they had found their way back to Haven.
So why don’t you meet me, down behind the old school
We’ll waste away the weekend, with perfect regard for how
Holly sat where she used to meet Trouble, tears flowing from behind her eyes. Artemis had died too, from age and disease. She recalled when she used to go out with Trouble, when they kissed… so long ago, when was it? When?
Cavalier we used to be, that beautiful insanity
The apathy’s surrounding me
Don’t close your eyes or we’ll fade away
So brave he was, so bold. The insanity was something she missed; a part of heart was missing. Blood spilt all over her hands, dripping to the floor. No one noticed, had it been a hallucination. A sign of deep depression, she clutched her heart. Injured so, she was.
Over and over and over again
We sat down for a minute, grew up into men
He had done so much, and once he left it had fallen apart. For the war, and now he was gone. He had grown from a boy to a man, just for her. He had lost his childhood just simply for a young girl, one that had been alone in her life for so long, for an age.
Now we’re putting out fires and changing car tires
Man how in hell did we get here?
The wind blew in her hair, the glow of a fire light her face up revealing a sad smile. She remembered, with Trouble and Grub. A doll fell into the fire, throwing sparks into the air. White ashes, floated down onto her hair. It reminded herself of what had happened. Her house was on fire, smoke choking her and eyes burning; it was pointless even to try. Then an angel, a guardian; it was Trouble; he immerged from the smoke and dragged her out of the building. Through the fire, the pain yet he tried and succeded.
So why don’t you meet me, down behind the old school
We’ll waste away the weekend, with perfect regard for how
Holly sat where she used to meet Trouble, tears flowing from behind her eyes. Artemis had died too, he had sacrificed his life to save her. She recalled when she used to go out with Trouble, when they kissed… so long ago, when was it? When? How long since Artemis died? How? Why?
Cavalier we used to be, that beautiful insanity
The apathy’s surrounding me
Don’t close your eyes or we’ll fade away
At work she had always hoped that there would be insanity, it was a part of her heart; a part that was never healed. The blood still spilt all over, in the shadow’s it looked black.
And we’ll never get back what we
Gave away, when we still have that fire in our eyes
She had given her heart, her soul and her effort, but got nothing back. Artemis and Trouble had died, but the fire still resided in her eyes. Just a little air, and she was herself again. She would ask Opal to bring her love, back; her friend.
Don’t believe everything happiness says
Nothings as real as our old reckless ways
Happiness, the perfect heaven. What was happiness? Holly did not believe in it. A death here, a death there, a lost friend and finally a lost love… Her life was grief, hell. Not the heaven of happiness. Every day she felt like hiding, in a catatonic sleep to think.
When we drink by the fires
The burning car tires, Bad girls and good liars
The dreams we’d conspire, The days we went crazy
The nights wild and hazy, Man how in the hell did we get here?
Drinking by the fire, with Trouble.
Burning car tires, bad girls; good liars, with Artemis.
The dreams, fantastic dreams, with Trouble.
Nights; wild nights chasing Opal through the Northern forests of Canada. With Artemis.
So why don’t you meet me, down behind the old school
We’ll waste away the weekend, with perfect regard for how
Holly sat where she used to meet Trouble, tears flowing from behind her eyes. Artemis had died too, he had sacrificed his life to save her. When they first kissed, the first love, the regret, then the sadness; the world could not allow it.
