Lunch and Grub
The Kelps (plus Holly) arrived for lunch exactly on time. The Marshells had several younger children (two blonde girls who were scarily tidy and a boy smaller than Grub). Then there was a boy who never spoke- maybe he was dreading this as much as Trouble? And a girl with red hair, with a dress like Holly’s on.
Katie Marshell was the child Mrs Marshell would like to put through a washing machine and hope she came at as girly as the other girls in the house.
Ilene was looking around the house for some blemish on the perfect home… she found it.
“Oh I hope you didn’t pay whoever put down the flooring. They made such a mess.” she exclaimed. The girl with the red hair looked at them strangely… her facial expression told him everything- she thought they were even stranger than her own family.
“Sorry my mum made you wear the dress” Trouble whispered to Holly.
“It’s not your fault.” she replied as they were taken into the dinning room Trouble and his father were gob smacked- the room was almost identical to their own. When Trouble’s Dad pointed this out his mother said
“Don’t be silly! Ours is white, theirs is a very very pale cream!”
The lunch went by slowly with Mrs Kelp saying how “poor angel Holly had no where else to go.”
Holly stuck her tongue out when Ilene and Mrs. Marshells left and the girl with red hair giggled.
Trouble knew this was going to lead to an all out war between his mother and Mrs. Marshells and was wondering how quickly he could move to Atlantis or some remote island on the surface- maybe jumping off the roof and going to Hospital would be great compared to his mother bickering all summer? It make a better story….
“Well it’s been lovely, sorry we were late… well only ten seconds.” Ilene began.
“But that was Trouble’s fault.” Grub began.
“Of course it wasn’t!” his mother spat.
“Mummy, remember Mummy you were screaming and swearing about that bad word Trouble making you almost late.”
“Kids!” Ilene exclaimed mentally begging her son to be quiet.
“Mummy! You did! Then you said you thought that woman had plastic surgery and her face was d’arviting revolting mummy remember? ” Grub said innocently.
How Trouble’s baby brother could remember this but not were his school was didn’t make sense to anyone.
