Memories Part2

Story Details

I wake up and I think “Why in Frond’s name is it so dusty outside?” it’s not dust but snow! I love it. Everything seems so beautiful and I think how lucky mud people are to have real weather.

I grab a smoothie from the hotel breakfast bar. Root left a message on my phone saying

“If you manage to stay out of trouble, I will consider letting you home for the modern dance exam.”

Foaly was right about mud people being nosy, for I am stopped three times and asked my name and where my parents are. I bump into Artemis on my way back up. I tell him I’ve got a lot to do and I’ll see him later. He’s going on some dodgy sounding bussiness meeting and says I’ve to meet him for lunch.

So  I spend two hours practising for the exam and then go for a quick jog. I’m gone maybe 15 minutes then I come back and change into jeans (in a kind of black colour) and a pink blouse which doesn’t even cover my shoulders but he didn’t say anything about leaving the hotel.

3 hours later

Note to self: Never presume anything because we went out for lunch and the walk from the car to the restraunt was enough to chill me to the bone when I got in my arms were red!

I’m just back and my phones ringing.

“Hello Dannie?” asks Kate (I know it’s her because Hannah would have said Hiya then lept into conversation)

“Yeah Hi Kate,” I reply “Where are you?”

“Nathan’s. How are things in the land of the mud?”.

It made sense that they were at Nathan’s. Ben’s house is crumbling, Hannah and Kate’s is like a war zone (don’t go there unless nescassary), Sara’s is small and James’s is far away from the city centre so if they get bored they can’t just hop on a tram and go into Haven’s centre. Usualy this means we stay round at mine but I’m gone so Nathan’s is second best. I can’t help but feel jealous that they’re all having a great time and I’m stuck here.

“Boring,” I reply “The surface isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Well the snow’s nice, but no shuttles, no mum and dad, no Josh, no dance studio to practise in. All and all I’d say you guys are better off in Haven.”

“Sorry you’re so miserable Dans, but what’s the mud boy like?”

“If he ever speaks more than two words to me, I’ll let you know. What’s that noise in the background are you guys torturing a troll?”

“No,” Kate said through laughing “Ben’s playing some mud man instrument. It’s enough to make his poor grandparents deaf so he practises round here” she says through more laughs before she says good bye.
