Ok, this sounds like a spoofy poem, but really it’s the beginning of my own mini-series(Jade, I am crazy Jealous)  FLOWERS!!!! YAY!!!!!! Enjoy the story, and R&R pleez.

Terra walked through the streets of New York, her long ears disguised underneath a baseball cap.  Her mom had no idea she was out, nor did her father.  They thought she was asleep.  She was 10 now, and much too old for naps in the afternoon, but she wouldn’t let them know that.  It gave her almost an hour of free time.  She sat on a bench, and cooed to the pigeons who surrounded her, and begged for bread crumbs.

Suddenly the birds scattered.  She looked up, her blended eyes shielded by the brim of the hat, and saw a boy who looked about her age.  He had sun-darkened skin the color of cinnamon, and gold-colored eyes, flecked with hazel, and black hair.  “Nature is fascinating, is it not?”  he said.  His voice was smooth, but not unpleasent.

“Umm, I guess so…” she said.  It was getting late.  She should be heading home.

“Can I show you something?”  he asked.  She’s at least forward, he thought.

“Sure.” she said.  He set off at a sort of loping pace, free and swinging like a horse’s stride.  “What’s your name?”  she asked finally.

“Anh,” he grunted. “Most people just call me Ang, short for..well I don’t like my name..Yours? “

“Terra Fowl,” she said after a moment’s hesitation.  They walked through the park for about ten minutes, and they came to a lightly wooded area with a pond at the center that she had never seen before.  Just then, she looked up, hearing a falcon’s screech, and a hawk tore away her hat, showing her pointed ears, brown striped blue eyes, and her long black hair.  She fell to the ground on her knees.  Ang sank down beside her.

She suddenly recognized the horror of what had just happened, and in haste, tried to fold down her ears, and cover her eyes at the same time.  Eventually, she just let her ears spring back out, and said, “Promise, promise you’ll never tell.”

Ang just smiled.  “I could tell…” he said.

“What?? How? Huh?”  she said completely confused.

“A real elf…are there others like you??” he asked.

Duh, my mom is an elf, she almost said.  “I’m not allowed to say…” she said.

“Ok….”  Ang said. She still had her head lowered.  “What, are you embarassed of your own heritage?” he said.

“ummm…maybe…” she said.

“Pointed ears look good on you.” he said.  Slowly he reached his hand forward to touch a small golden bud, and at his touch, it’s petals unfurled.  For lillies are for friendship, and this would be the start of a companionship to span the years.

You like it?  Umm, the Character Ang, I got sort of from A book by Robin McKinley called the Blue Sword, and if you have read you can guess who I based it off.  Coem on, guess!!!  R&R pleez!!!
