I took a walk around the world to
Ease my troubled mind
I left my body laying somewhere
In the sands of time
With a great sigh Artemis pushed The laptop away from himself. He rubbed his eyes and yawned. What time was it? 2:00 in the morning. He’d have to keep working haven’s existence depended on it. It seemed as though that was happening a lot recently.
I watched the world float to the dark
Side of the moon
I feel there is nothing I can do, yeah
‘What if I quit?’ thought Artemis. ‘No. You can’t quit! This is for holly…..For holly…’

After all I knew it had to be something

Artemis wasn’t ready to give up. He couldn’t. He pulled the laptop closer and he began working again. His eyes flicked back and forth over the screen his finger flew over the keyboard and yet he had no idea what he was looking for.
I really don’t mind what happens now and then
As long as you’ll be my friend at the end
His communicator vibrated. “Hello?” he answered one hand still on the keyboard. “Artemis! Are you finished yet?” Holly’s panic stricken voice caused him to put on a burst of speed. “I’m working on it.” Artemis heard himself snap. It was like a dream. Like it wasn’t really happening. This time he might not even be able to save haven.

“Hurry! Artemis! There coming!!” Holly’s voice was strained with fear now. Artemis felt beads of sweat running down his head. “Artemis? Are you there?” her angelic voice almost put him in a trance. He didn’t dare answer. It would brake his concentration.

You took for granted all the times I

“Oh God! Artemis it’s too late! They’re here!” she sounded as if she were sobbing now. Artemis went even faster. His finger’s seemed to scream in protest. He could still save them maybe….just maybe…
You stumbled in and bumped your head, if
Not for me then you would be dead
I picked you up and put you back
On solid ground
“It’s the military! Artemis they have guns! Turn the power back on. Oh god….” Holly’s voice screamed. Artemis froze. Was he too late? “Oh god! Arte-” Holly’s voice was cut off by a deafening crunch. “Holly….?” Artemis asked hoarsely. No answer.

“No….Holly! Please! You can’t die! Holly…..don’t leave me…” Artemis’s voice cracked and the tears fell from his eyes. Suddenly the static on the communicator stopped and a voice hissed, “Poor, poor Arty. It’s over now….” a mysterious voice said. Artemis stopped crying and put on a determined look. His laptop picked up a visual. It looked like a female version of him. “Oh no. It’s just begun.” Artemis said coldly. Then the line went dead.

Well, I haven’t read battle of the genii, but I really liked this. At the beginning, I didn’t really get how the song went with the story, but by the end I was really absorbed in it. I really love the end, especially those last few lines. And, this is rare for me to say about a fanfic, I didn’t think the characters were OOC. It’s really hard to write such a short story as well as you’ve done. Congratulations!

I suppose I didn’t make myself clear before- I LIKE that it doesn’t have such an attention grabber at the beginning. It really builds in tension the whole way through until the climax at the end, which is what I think is so brilliant about this in the first place, that you could do that in such a short story.
Anyway, I think this is my favorite songfic.

I like it. You made the story understandable, even to people who haven’t read the book. You even were able to make a SongFic with it. Artemis and Holly are really in charachter too. Good grammar, great descriptions, everything is great. No wonder you got Editor’s Choice! I would have to agree with everything MMK said. A five star story.

I don’t get how this is so great, no offense. So Artemis was researching for Holly’s sake and he was too late so she got shot by the millitary? I don’t understand the end either.

Finally I have found a story that doesn’t make me cringe. It’s a TON better than others that I have read. One suggestion;when someone talks you have to start a new paragraph, that was the only problem that I found.
