At lunch break, Vinyaya dolloped chicken onto her plate and slid over to where Julius was sitting.
He didn’t even look at her when he said, “I see you’ve come to your senses.”
She rolled her eyes and picked up a drumstick, examining it closely.
“Is it me or does this thing have funny yellow bumps on it?”She said.
“I noticed Verbil has that locket of yours around his neck,” Briar said. He had slid in place beside her.
“Gross. What do they put in this, Vole curry packets?” She said loudly.But she was interested. Verbil, huh? Well, this Verbil boy had better give her back Bibi’s locket. Otherwise she would go berserk on him. Her brothers could bear witness to the fact that she had once broken the boy down the street’s arm when he had been caught stealing from their house by her.
“Are you going to tell? Thieving is very serious, Vinyaya.”
“I’m never eating this again…”
“Damn it,girl! Would you stop talking about the damn chicken and pay attention?”
Vinyaya put down her drumstick and wiped her hands on her jeans.
“I fight my own battles, thanks,” she said, and got up off the table , leaving the yellow- spotted drumsticks by themselves.
‘Stubborn as a mule,” Cudgeon muttered, and tucked into his mashed potatoes.
“She and I are going to get along just fine,” Root said.

I absolutely agree with Jade Malice. And I really like how you remembered to include Turnball and Cudgeon, and how it isn’t all clearly mushily romantic. Anyway, nice work, I’ll definitely keep reading when you update.

I really do like this a lot- it reminds me a bit of Tamora Peirce’s Tortall books (mostly Protector of the Small). Anyway, can’t wait until you update!
My only qualm is that I don’t think the fairies would eat chicken, but it doesn’ really matter. And you made it too good a scene to change anyway.

yes! the best fanfic in a while! i love julius and vinyaya romances. but in the books, chix just seemed like a nuisence, not violent. i still love it.
