Loading ...Yes, I’m getting a bit lazy over the summer, but don’t we all? Anyhow, I’m still going to go with the whole Misa thing and I’m going to use the ‘whiteout’ idea (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, don’t worry about it) with Arty behind the scenes. I might use the Yotsuba arc if I’m REALLY desprate, though… Also, don’t blame me if the story doesn’t go like the original Death Note. I don’t have volume 3 or 4 with me right now.
Chapter 9: Coffee
“Hello, Artemis-kun. I do hope you are feeling better” Ryuzaki paused to shove another mouthful of cake into his mouth. Artemis stared, wondering how in the world L could consume that much sweets and still remain underweight.
“Yes, thank you for your concern” Artemis replied smoothly. Of course, he was only a spy on Light’s orders once he found out that he was in contact with L. Undoubtedly, Artemis was not very pleased with being used by Light as a pawn, but he found several benefits to his liking, namely the co-ownership of the Death Note.
(seven hours previously)
“Argh! What am I doing?” Artemis banged his fists on the table. Seriously, what was he thinking when he agreed? He almost tried to bang his head onto the lightpost, before deciding against it. What was there to gain in using the Death Note? No, he shouldn’t be thinking about that. That’s something someone greedy and tyrannical would think… Artemis shot a glare at the sheets of paper torn from the Death Note. Light had given him a few for the elimination of a few crimminals as his house was under survailance after Raye Penber and Naomi Misora died. A strange curiosity filled him. Before he could help himself-
Aruya Takami-accident
“Ahh!” He screamed. What had he just done?
“Hyuk hyuk…” Ryuk laughed, munching on an apple. That was the beauty of the Death Note. It’s special power make anyone want to try it out, at least once. And then once a human tries to justify their actions, soon, they all get carried away, just like Light. Humans were so…interesting. Soon, Artemis had lost control of his own fingers as he spent all evening scibbling names onto the Death Note…
(Present day)
“Is this really necessary, Ryuzaki?” Soichiro asked for the third time. Seeing that the Yagami household was one of the families that Raye Penber was interviewing, L had bugged all the rooms with microphones and cameras. Of course, this was a total violation of Japan law and human rights, but Ryuzaki thought nothing of it. If they could identify a suspect, thousands of lives could be saved.
Artemis watched silently. He wasn’t exactly sure if he should be glad or worried. Kira was indeed a crimminal and needed to be captured, but once he was captured, Light could easily rat him out. Of course, Light had noticed that his house was bugged the very day that the cameras and microphones were installed. He had lowered the door handle as a precaution and stuck a piece of pencil lead in the hinges. Ryuk was busy looking for all the cameras in the house all day (once he found out that he couldn’t eat apples in the house, as floating apples tend to attract attention).
Artemis sighed as he spared a glance at the scrap of the Death Note he embedded in his suit. Of course, it was for emergencies, but Artemis frankly, did not trust himself with the thing. All the countless lives he had sacrificed with his lapse in control…
(Light’s house)
“Light dear! Your friend’s here!” Sachiko Yagami called. It was of course, Artemis at the door.
“Light-kun and I were planning to stop at the library today for the research project” Of course, it was simply an excuse to have a private conversation without having L overhear. Light came downstairs dressed in his usual attire. Fifteen minutes later, they were in a coffee shop booth far away from any potential eavesdroppers.
“L’s already started to place suspicion on me. I found my suit, my cell phone, and my laptop bugged yesterday. Of course, I had already fed them all a recorded loop, but I don’t know how long I can do so without arousing suspicions. But that’s not the problem” Artemis pulled out a Japenese newspaper. “There’s another string of Kira killings that have started recently”
“Has L caught up with this?” Light asked.
“He’s so busy with the current Kira case that he didn’t even notice” Artemis replied. “But I’m pretty sure this is the work of another Death Note. So far, most of the victims are sexual offenders or charged with assult. Some of these men’s names were never reported in the media, which points that we’re dealing with someone who posseses the Shinigami eyes”
Light nodded. “And so he has even greater killing powers than I”
“What do you plan to do with your ‘utopia’?” Artemis asked suddenly. “If all you’d really wanted to create such a perfect world…” Artemis trailed off.
“You haven’t been trying to mesmerize me again, have you?” Light smirked arrogantly. The mesmer proved ineffective against him, as Artemis later realized that the mesmer could not affect strong, unwavering minds like his.
“After I create my utopia…I will rule as god!” Light’s eyes flared red. Artemis frowned. History had proven many times that humans were not fit to play god. It seemed now Light wasn’t the only one to overlook that rule.
“One other thing…has it ever occured to you that I could one day turn on you? That one day I would write your own name in the Death Note?” Artemis glowered.
Light sipped his coffee calmly. “Rather big talk for someone who was spared out of mercy, don’t you think?” Artemis flinched. Light smiled. “Do you honestly have the guts to do so? When you watch the news, a crimminal is merely a name and a picture, and thus is easier to kill. I am an actual person, Artemis-kun”
The comment had made its mark, and Artemis knew it. Light frowned. This was the exact reason he had to become Kira. No one else would have the guts. They would all be too afraid.
“You, on the other hand…try to say anything to L and your name goes in my Death Note. Even if I’m put in a situation that I cannot write, L cannot arrest me without proof. If you try to give him information on the Death Note, L will undoubtedly be very interested in where you got your information” Light smirked as Artemis growled in anger.
They both knew that this particular conversation was over. Artemis paid the bill, and both went their seperate ways…

OH.MY.GOD I just LOVE death note I’m so happy you did a crossover! The story is really nice so far, I like it! Maybe Artemis should be on Light’s side. I like it that way. =D Just an opinion.
But great job so far. I’ll definitely check back.

Death Note is the awesomest anime/magna ever!!!!! Maybe Arty’d do better if he’s with L. You know, Light’s kind of like a more dangerous version of his 12 year old self.

I’m not into Manga, but I found Light’s story to be fascinating. I’m inclined to think that Artemis’s brainpower is match enough for anyone, but with a tool like the Death Note, he may have found a competent adversary…or will they be conspirators? It could easily go either way, and I don’t have a preference. I’ll check in on your story again.

My vote’s still that Arty teams up with L. And Yotsuba is the…. rival I think of the police that Light’s dad works or is in charge of.

Yotsuba is the company that got ahold of the Death Note after Light loses his memory…:o Oops. I think I said too much!
Hmm…also, maybe I’ll also give Arty the ownership of one Death Note later on and he loses his memory later…but I still need a dominant alliance.

I think one of the main reasons why he is so popular is because nothing can stand in his way. Not Ryuzaki, the FBI agents, being locked up, or the death of family members. He’s a hurricane that will tear up anything in its path. But I have more fantasies about Ryuzaki rather than Light…Ryuzaki’s so cute! Anyway, I’ll work on ch 4 if I have time.

Death and Artemis Fowl is THE greatest x-over ever! ^^ I wonder why no one ever did it though….
Chp 5 was my favorite chappie so far! ^^ If L (to Arty) is still the fancy L on the laptop, how is he eating a strawberry and drinking coffee?

Once again a wonderful piece of Fanfiction from Star Jinin! Death Note is like the best ever manga in the world. I love drawing manga (however terrible at it I am). By the way, I know this will sound rather annoying but you spelt recognising wrong. Keep up the good work!!!

This is a very good story, but I would like to to point out something. When there is more than one person talking, it’s difficult to keep track of who’s saying what. So, can you maybe distinguish the dialogue. That would be much appreciated.

This sounds like such a cool thing! I only read one chapter, I’ve never seen/read Death Note, but it’s a great idea.
Maybe I’ll read the rest (if it’s not too confusing) and see how it turns out.

People are here to prove this wrong… How interesting. Even though this is off topic, I am Chinese. Some people think we are the smartest people in the world! Some think that. Some people thimk we are just plain dumb.
This story is interesting. Even though I started to watch it back in Feb., I’m hooked. Artemis, in my opinion, is a little OOC. The disappearance of Naomi Misora? What happened? I know I peeked, but you don’t know my name or how I look like. There is no way you can kill me.

Okay, Naomi died because of the death note. Light wrote it in to make her commit suicide without letting her body be found after he manipulated her into telling her real name, if you read carefully.
I had a theory about how the Death Note corrupts the owner’s mind, and a with a ego like Artemis’s, I thought it would be reasonable that he would be lured by the Death Note.

Well, yeah! That’s why I made her the second Kira. I don’t like her either, but I hate Misa more. And putting Misa in would make the story SO predictable to DN fans! Misa is such a moron. Another genius would be better. And I have to balance the AF and the DN characters otherwise I’m on shaky ground even for a crossover

Uh…I just told her that Minerva is the second Kira…I mean, I made it really obvious. I guess most DN fans are a bit biased. And I haven’t decided if I’m really gonna kill L. I might, I might not. I hope to end it after the sucessors come in, but before the 1/28 meeting. I’m not gonna include Mikami either. I hate that guy!

i like this crossover, but i really think you make arty a little stupid. i can never see him as a pawn to anyone. i see him ruling and planning the whole thing. make him win with l though because l is awesome.

Sigh…I know, but I like Light being the smarter one, and I know that Artemis is being a bit submissive. But I suppose he did learn some humility and…well…okay, I don’t have an excuse. I just wanted Light to be the dominant one! Artemis can tolerate being told to do something, while Light will throw a hissy fit or find some way out of it. I admit, it’s mostly favortism on my part. And Light’s much more ambitious and his mental strength is much greater. I’ll try to make them more ‘buisness-associate’ like in the future. Thanks for the reviews!
