Oh, this is going to be an EXCITING chapter! Light meets a woman that may lead to Kira’s capture, and Artemis…ohhh 
will make a stunning desicion.
Chapter 8: Drugs
Raye is dead…no, he was murdered by Kira…
How could this have happened? They were all set up to get married and everything… the woman headed towards the NPA headquarters. She walked towards the reception desk…
“I’m sorry, but there is no one at the Kira task force today. You could leave a message. We’ll pass it on” The receptionist apologized.
“No! It has to be in person” She argued. She couldn’t afford to take any chances after what had happened to her fiancee.
“Hey, if you’d like, I could put you in touch with my father on his cell phone. He’s the chief of the NPA and in charge of the Kira investigation” Light came through the door and strolled towards her.
“Thank you” The woman bowed. Light wondered just what this woman wanted to tell his father. It could be lethal.
“His cell is turned off right now, but he’ll call me when he’s ready” Light was originally here to deliver his father a change of clothes. “But you’ll have to trust my father. Ha ha!”
“Who’s this friendly guy?” Ryuk thought as the woman and Light sat down on one of the benches and spoke.
“The way I see it, Kira has greater powers than what most people think” Light tried to encourage her into confiding her information. Her eyes lit up.
“Yes! I’ve noticed that too! That’s why I’m here” The woman went on. “If my hunch is right, Kira can kill with other methods other than heart attacks”
Who is this woman? Light thought

“Someone you knew met Kira? Ha ha ha!” Light chuckled. “You’re going to have a hard time convincing the police of that. And shouldn’t the person who met him talk to the police besides you?”
“He can’t…he was one of the FBI who was killed”, she said solemly.
You…you mean… Thought Light.
“He was my fiancee Raye Penber” The woman whispered. “He was mixed in a hijacking. I think Kira was on that bus. I will do whatever it takes to catch Kira.”
“What makes you think Kira was on that bus?” Light strived to keep calm. If this woman had irrefutable evidence, he would have to kill her.
“That day, the hijacker died, but not of a heart attack, and so did one other crimminal in a convienience store. Eight days later, my fiancee and 11 of his collegues died. All of the victims were all used to get rid of the FBI agents. I’m sure of it” disclosed the woman in confidence.
“But it seems like a big leap to me” Light tried to dissuade her from her theory. He didn’t enjoy killing off innocents, even if he was willing to do so to create his utopia.
“Later, when I asked my fiancee about the busjacking, he told me that he did show his ID to one other passenger. He said he had no choice”, said the woman.
“And if your hunch is right, Kira was the one your fiancee showed his ID to on the bus… this could be valuble information, because with this, Kira could be caught” Light smirked. If the woman had told the NPA before she told him, Kira would have been arrested.
She needs to be eliminated.
“Your theory is worth looking into. Now what’s the date of the busjacking?” Light took out a piece of the Death Note, as a fragment of a page worked just as well as the full Note.
“Hyuk, hyuk…gonna off her now, huh?” Ryuk chuckled. Light scribbled. The woman had already revealed that her name was Shoko Maki in a conversation earlier. The tapes recorded him with this woman a few minutes ago and so unless she died in an accident right here, the tapes will never be rewinded and looked at.

Suicide
Starting at 1:15 p.m. on January 1, 2004, thinks only of how to best commit suicide in a way that no one will discover her body and no one will be inconvienenced and dies by implementing this plan within 48 hours.
Ryuk started to laugh uncontrollably.
“I’ll tell the task force later of all that you’ve told me so far” Light shoved the Death Note back into his pocket and stared at his watch.
…okay, it’s 40 seconds…why isn’t this woman taking off? Light was anxious now as Ryuk laughed beside him
Ryuk? Come to think of it, he was laughing like crazy when she said her name as well…what’s so funny about her name?…! It’s an alias! It’s got to be! Ryuk’s eyes can see her real name, that’s why he was laughing. Ryuk had told Light earlier that Shinigami eyes can see a person’s real name and lifespan.
I’ve already asked for her name. I can’t ask her again, it’ll get suspicious. Crap! I told her she could talk to my father if he called. Why am I panicking? Light turned his own cell phone off. She’s a woman. I can use force if I need to, but those cameras back in the NPA recorded me with this woman.
“I’ll go to the NPA. There’s bound to be a member there by now” The woman started walking towards the NPA building.
“Um…actually, it isn’t possible to speak to a task force member…don’t you think it was strange that no one was there?” Light lied causually.
“Yeah, I did think it was strange”
“The NPA is using this method to keep the members a secret, so the murder that befell your fiancee wouldn’t be repeated. So they’re going to tell you no one’s there no matter what you say” Light tried to make his tone sound natural
“How do you know about all this?” She asked skeptically.
“All right, I suppose I have no choice…because I’m a member of the task force myself”, said Light. “All of us have been hand picked by L”
“Okay, so if my insights are going to be passed to L, it’s all I care about. I’ve worked with L in the past and I belive he can solve anything…L has my complete trust…and when you showed up, you reminded me of L, somehow” She murmured.
Light’s eyes lit up. He could use this. “Well, no wonder you were so professional! Would you like to join the task force? We’ll catch Kira together! It must be fate that we met today!”
“Hyuk hyuk…brilliant, Light. And human females usually fall for the word fate…you could be a god of good salesmanship too…” Ryuk chuckled.
“All I need is some identification” Light held out his hand.
“Um…earlier, that wasn’t really my real name…I’m sorry” She apologized.
“It’s okay. It further proves your elegibility, with caution like yours”
“Is a Japenese driver’s license okay?” She handed him a card.
God, this woman is stupid! If she’d just gone to the police instead of the task force… Light rewrote the note, only this time, he filled in Naomi Misora as the name. He stared at his watch.
“Um…why do you keep staring at your watch all the time?” Naomi asked.
“Oh, that’s because…I am Kira” He smirked.
“What? What do you mean?” She had fear in her eyes. She suddenly turned away, and-
Crash. Light could not believe his eyes.
Artemis arose, coughing. He knew it was stupid, he knew it was irrational, but he couldn’t sit here and watch this woman walk towards her death.
“You!” Light hissed. “What are you doing here? Don’t you ever give up? It’s too late to save that woman anyway. Once a name is in the Death Note, it cannot be reversed” Light didn’t care that he was telling this kid about the Death Note. He probably already knew.
And as if on cue, Naomi Misora got up again, and proceeded to her hotel room. Artemis’s eyes widened in shock.
“H-how could you just kill her like that, like her life has no significance?” Artemis blanched.
“She was merely a sacrifice to create a perfect world” Light was unperturbed.
“Well, her death will not be in vain” Artemis fled while whipping out his cell phone.
“It is futile…I could simply kill you this very instant…Artemis Fowl II. In fact, you are also a crimminal that needed to be erased from this world!” Light whipped out his Death Note. Artemis couldn’t help it; he stopped dialing Watari halfway.
“Ryuk, stop him. I’ll owe you four apples for this later” Light commanded. Ryuk gladly obliged. To him, apples were what cigars and liquor were to humans. Artemis felt invisible hands secure him. Light pressed his Death Note on his head and Ryuk instantly became visible. Artemis could have screamed, but the mottled hands covered his mouth. Touching the note had an other side effect. His memory of the past month came flooding back to him.
“I consider killing you wasteful, with a mind like yours…perhaps if you’d join me, I just may spare you” Light’s eyes seemed to glow red. Artemis didn’t even for a moment consider this option…but that Death Note in Light’s hand…it was strangely alluring…oh, the possibilites with a weapon like that…
He was chained by the strange power of the note. He was addicted to the thoughts of what the Death Note was capable of…it was a drug that had bended him to its will. Of all the people who deserved to die (not necessarily crimminals), they could be eliminated so easily. Artemis collapsed on the ground, muttering…
“Yes…Lord Kira…”
Plot twist! I got the idea that Light wasn’t really evil, only Kira was because he’s good again after giving up the Death Note! And I’m going to say that Light didn’t get controlled by the Note because he has a way stronger mind than Artemis’s. He’s not hesitant in killing or sacrificing while Artemis has problems taking Holly hostage. Butler and Holly will definally get involved. I’m deleting the Yotsuba arc because I think it’s lame, and Artemis is a WAY better helper than Misa.

OH.MY.GOD I just LOVE death note I’m so happy you did a crossover! The story is really nice so far, I like it! Maybe Artemis should be on Light’s side. I like it that way. =D Just an opinion.
But great job so far. I’ll definitely check back.

Death Note is the awesomest anime/magna ever!!!!! Maybe Arty’d do better if he’s with L. You know, Light’s kind of like a more dangerous version of his 12 year old self.

I’m not into Manga, but I found Light’s story to be fascinating. I’m inclined to think that Artemis’s brainpower is match enough for anyone, but with a tool like the Death Note, he may have found a competent adversary…or will they be conspirators? It could easily go either way, and I don’t have a preference. I’ll check in on your story again.

Yotsuba is the company that got ahold of the Death Note after Light loses his memory…:o Oops. I think I said too much!
Hmm…also, maybe I’ll also give Arty the ownership of one Death Note later on and he loses his memory later…but I still need a dominant alliance.

I think one of the main reasons why he is so popular is because nothing can stand in his way. Not Ryuzaki, the FBI agents, being locked up, or the death of family members. He’s a hurricane that will tear up anything in its path. But I have more fantasies about Ryuzaki rather than Light…Ryuzaki’s so cute! Anyway, I’ll work on ch 4 if I have time.

Once again a wonderful piece of Fanfiction from Star Jinin! Death Note is like the best ever manga in the world. I love drawing manga (however terrible at it I am). By the way, I know this will sound rather annoying but you spelt recognising wrong. Keep up the good work!!!

This is a very good story, but I would like to to point out something. When there is more than one person talking, it’s difficult to keep track of who’s saying what. So, can you maybe distinguish the dialogue. That would be much appreciated.

This sounds like such a cool thing! I only read one chapter, I’ve never seen/read Death Note, but it’s a great idea.

People are here to prove this wrong… How interesting. Even though this is off topic, I am Chinese. Some people think we are the smartest people in the world! Some think that. Some people thimk we are just plain dumb.
This story is interesting. Even though I started to watch it back in Feb., I’m hooked. Artemis, in my opinion, is a little OOC. The disappearance of Naomi Misora? What happened? I know I peeked, but you don’t know my name or how I look like. There is no way you can kill me.

Okay, Naomi died because of the death note. Light wrote it in to make her commit suicide without letting her body be found after he manipulated her into telling her real name, if you read carefully.
I had a theory about how the Death Note corrupts the owner’s mind, and a with a ego like Artemis’s, I thought it would be reasonable that he would be lured by the Death Note.

Well, yeah! That’s why I made her the second Kira. I don’t like her either, but I hate Misa more. And putting Misa in would make the story SO predictable to DN fans! Misa is such a moron. Another genius would be better. And I have to balance the AF and the DN characters otherwise I’m on shaky ground even for a crossover

Uh…I just told her that Minerva is the second Kira…I mean, I made it really obvious. I guess most DN fans are a bit biased. And I haven’t decided if I’m really gonna kill L. I might, I might not. I hope to end it after the sucessors come in, but before the 1/28 meeting. I’m not gonna include Mikami either. I hate that guy!

i like this crossover, but i really think you make arty a little stupid. i can never see him as a pawn to anyone. i see him ruling and planning the whole thing. make him win with l though because l is awesome.

Sigh…I know, but I like Light being the smarter one, and I know that Artemis is being a bit submissive. But I suppose he did learn some humility and…well…okay, I don’t have an excuse. I just wanted Light to be the dominant one! Artemis can tolerate being told to do something, while Light will throw a hissy fit or find some way out of it. I admit, it’s mostly favortism on my part. And Light’s much more ambitious and his mental strength is much greater. I’ll try to make them more ‘buisness-associate’ like in the future. Thanks for the reviews!
