Loading ...Yay! Chapter seven! And I’m still not even going to be close to finished. I think I’ll cover all the way past the Yotsuba arc. I might omit you-know-who’s death as well
Chapter 7: Voice
Groan…where am I? Am I dead? Artemis’s mind clouded with fear and confusion.
“Artemis-kun! Artemis-kun!” Artemis opened his eyes groggily. Someone was shaking him awake.
“Are you all right, Artemis-kun?” A black haired man with bags under his eyes stood beside Watari.
“Yes…are you…L?” Artemis stared. He highly doubted that this skinny, insomniac man could be L, but who else could it be?
“…Yes…I am L” He finally admitted. “We got a little worried when your tracking beacon stayed stationary for three days so Watari and I came ourselves to investigate. But please, from now on, address me as Ryuuzaki for safety’s sake”
“I-” Artemis flinched. He felt a massive migrane coming on and pressed a hand to his forehead.
“What is it, Artemis-kun?” Ryuuzaki kneeled and pressed an ice pack to the Irish boy’s forehead. “What happened to you?” He demanded urgently.
“I can’t seem to recall… in fact, I don’t even know what I’m doing here in the first place” Artemis admitted sheepishly.
Ryuuzaki stood. “I thought today was supposed to be your day off. Raye Penber took over your shift today”
“My day off from what?” Artemis frowned. This was not good. Just how much had he forgotten?
“Well, seeing that you have a faint recollection of who we are, it’s safe to say that your memory loss is relatively minor…I’ll explain when we get back to the Imperial Hotel. Can you stand?”
“Yes” Artemis scrambled up, flushing with embarassment. His pride had taken a severe blow after being found unconsious on the sidewalk. “I’ll fly there”
Ryuuzaki nodded. “Be sure to shield this time. We don’t want to risk that the cam-foil accidentally falls off during flight”
Artemis activated the wings and his GPS and flew towards the direction of the hotel. Once there, he requested ‘Ryuuzaki’’s room number. He knocked on the door and Chief Yagami opened it warily.
“Oh Yatamari! What are you doing here?” Soichiro asked.
“He is here at my invitation” Ryuuzaki replied. He and Watari walked in as well. “But for now on, you may address him as Artemis Fowl. He was previously at the NPA to gather information about Kira, but he is now currently in my services” Everyone seemed shocked at the revelation.
“You sent a spy to the NPA? I knew we couldn’t trust him!” Aizawa shouted.
“Actually, I took a personal curiosity about the Kira case and came of my own accord” Artemis shrugged as the other detectives gwaked at him. “Actually, I should be asking you what you all were doing here”
“I had gathered a group of NPA members from the Kira task force that I could trust and decided to have the Kira investigation take place here” Ryuuzaki explain as he sat crouched in his armchair Artemis took a seat as well.
“Artemis, would you mind explaining your latest little stunt?” Ryuuzaki began taking a bite out of a doughnut. ”And what had happened to you, I might add”
“I’m not sure…I’m assuming I got knocked out after getting the side of my head smashed…I don’t remember what I was doing, only that I was supposed to be following someone and that…I was looking for confirmation of something important…” Artemis mused.
“Watari and I found you at the site of a bus-jacking. A drug addict supposedly hijacked the bus and got run over by a car”
“Ah! So maybe this boy had seen Kira do something suspicious, and he Kira attacked to keep him quiet!” Matsuda shouted in outburst. Artemis scowled. He was technically too old to be referred to as ‘boy’. Ryuuzaki licked the chocolate from his fingers.
“Highly possible, but if Kira could kill with a heart attack, I doubt he would have went through all the trouble to assult Artemis-kun and leave him alive, and Kira would have probably had done a cleaner job of it. I have no doubt that he was left alive intentionally” Ryuuzaki started gnawing at his nails. “And so Kira either wanted to leave Artemis-kun as a warning, or because he’s not fond of killing juniors. Kira has yet to kill anyone under the age of 18″
Another sharp jolt of pain sparked in Artemis’s cranium. “Ugh…” Images flashed in his head. A crumpled note. A Japanese girl. A telephone.
“Artemis-kun is should go home and rest. If I find anything important, Watari will be at the NPA to convey the information” Ryuuzaki took a sip of coffee. “Hopefully, you’ll remember something in the morning”
Artemis gestured goodbye, and left the Imperial hotel. He walked back to his own hotel and whipped out his fairy communicator that was now fixed.
“Foaly?” Artemis had wired the communicator so that he could contact Foaly as well.
“Yes, Artemis? I’m in the middle of an important council meeting. It was about time my budget got raised” Foaly moaned.
“Have you heard anything about the Kira case that’s going on in Japan?” Artemis spoke urgently.
“Are you kidding, mud boy? That stuff’s been circulating around Haven for a month! Well, not that I’m saying hundreds of heart attacks happening simtaneously is coincidence, but there’s no way this ‘Kira’ is real, if you ask me” Foaly snorted.
Artemis opened his mouth to speak, but Foaly cut in. “Look, Artemis, I know what you’re about to ask, but the council will never authorize for us to act in human affairs, and I’m going to have a hard time getting Holly a surface pass. The counci’s already on to me for getting her visas to pick up hoof moistenizers”
Artemis sighed.
“But Holly can come and help once in a while in her vacation time, there’s no rule against that” Foaly added. Artemis breathed a sigh of relief. “All right, I look forward to seeing her here. Goodbye”
* * *
A week later…
“What?” L shouted. “Dead?”
“Yeah”, said the FBI director. “eight agents were reported dead, I tried contacting all twelve, but couldn’t reach any of them. Kira got them. There’s no other explanation”
“Please stay calm. Who knew all the names and faces of all the agents?” L asked.
“Only myself, until yesterday…a request for the names and photos of the agents came in…I assumed that they wanted to liase with each other”
That’s it! Kira somehow got a look at that file!
“Who was the file sent to?” L demanded.
“It was sent to…all of the agents on the mission” The director went on. “I’m sorry, L, but the FBI is terminating its investigation in Japan. Those were twelve good agents we lost and they had familes. It’s a big loss”
* * *
Yesterday…
“So, Light. Are you going to kill off that FBI agent now? There’s so many people here” Ryuk asked.
“I’ve been doing experiments. Now you can see the results. If you write the cause of death, and the names later, they still happen” Light was dressed in a hoodie today. Normally, he abhorred wearing anything in public that was too informal
“Huh. I didn’t even know that” Ryuk mused.
Light found a particular man in the crowd. It was Raye Penber. “Right on time” Light muttered as he followed him.
“Raye Penber. I am Kira. If you turn around, or stick your hands in your pockets, I’ll kill you instantly” Light kept his voice low, just in case.
Ive…I’ve heard this voice before…whose is it?
“I’m going to prove I’m really Kira. See that employee in that shop? He will die in two minutes”
“No! Stop!” Raye demanded.
“That’s too bad, but you wouldn’t believe me without an example. That man was a menace to society but could not be convicted because of insufficent evidence. Now, I need you to do something. If you do anything besides what I tell you to do, I’ll kill you and your family. Now guess who I’ve taken hostage?”
“You’ve…you’ve taken her hostage?”Raye had a fiancee that was a former FBI agent who worked with L once. Of course, all this was just a lie, but Penber didn’t need to know that. “Take this envelope and put this transceiver in your ear”
A transciever. It’s practically a toy. No one would be able to pick up the transmissions. Got to hand it to him. Now what are these envelopes?
Raye found several envelopes with slots over them.
“Get on the Yamanote train and get the seat closest to the door.” Light’s voice came from the tranceiver. Penber did so.
“Now, how many FBI agents are there?” Light asked.
“Twelve. There’s four teams of three” Raye answered.
“Now, get someone under your rank to give you the files of the FBI agents that are in Japan” Raye dialed Belle’s number.
“I need the information of all the FBI agents in Japan” Raye replied. And soon, all the files were sent to him.
“Now” Light commanded. “Write the names of the FBI agents in the slots on the envelope while you focus on the photos”
Raye thought for a moment. If all he has are their names, he can’t kill them…
“Okay, now leave the envelopes on the rack overhead and exit the train” Light ordered. Raye exited the train, scowling.
Damn…why can’t I remember whose voice this is? Who is it?
Raye Penber stepped off the plane. Three seconds later-
“Argh!” He collapsed on the ground. Penber tried desprately to look on the train.
“Light…Yagami!” He sputtered out.
“Goodbye, Raye Penber” Light watched him emotionlessly as Raye stared helplessly as the train door closed.
Sorry about the delay in this chapter, but I was busy listening to Death Note’s soundtrack. L, Kira, Death Note, the WORLD, Arumina, and Near’s theme are awesome!

OH.MY.GOD I just LOVE death note I’m so happy you did a crossover! The story is really nice so far, I like it! Maybe Artemis should be on Light’s side. I like it that way. =D Just an opinion.
But great job so far. I’ll definitely check back.

Death Note is the awesomest anime/magna ever!!!!! Maybe Arty’d do better if he’s with L. You know, Light’s kind of like a more dangerous version of his 12 year old self.

I’m not into Manga, but I found Light’s story to be fascinating. I’m inclined to think that Artemis’s brainpower is match enough for anyone, but with a tool like the Death Note, he may have found a competent adversary…or will they be conspirators? It could easily go either way, and I don’t have a preference. I’ll check in on your story again.

My vote’s still that Arty teams up with L. And Yotsuba is the…. rival I think of the police that Light’s dad works or is in charge of.

Yotsuba is the company that got ahold of the Death Note after Light loses his memory…:o Oops. I think I said too much!
Hmm…also, maybe I’ll also give Arty the ownership of one Death Note later on and he loses his memory later…but I still need a dominant alliance.

I think one of the main reasons why he is so popular is because nothing can stand in his way. Not Ryuzaki, the FBI agents, being locked up, or the death of family members. He’s a hurricane that will tear up anything in its path. But I have more fantasies about Ryuzaki rather than Light…Ryuzaki’s so cute! Anyway, I’ll work on ch 4 if I have time.

Death and Artemis Fowl is THE greatest x-over ever! ^^ I wonder why no one ever did it though….
Chp 5 was my favorite chappie so far! ^^ If L (to Arty) is still the fancy L on the laptop, how is he eating a strawberry and drinking coffee?

Once again a wonderful piece of Fanfiction from Star Jinin! Death Note is like the best ever manga in the world. I love drawing manga (however terrible at it I am). By the way, I know this will sound rather annoying but you spelt recognising wrong. Keep up the good work!!!

This is a very good story, but I would like to to point out something. When there is more than one person talking, it’s difficult to keep track of who’s saying what. So, can you maybe distinguish the dialogue. That would be much appreciated.

This sounds like such a cool thing! I only read one chapter, I’ve never seen/read Death Note, but it’s a great idea.
Maybe I’ll read the rest (if it’s not too confusing) and see how it turns out.

People are here to prove this wrong… How interesting. Even though this is off topic, I am Chinese. Some people think we are the smartest people in the world! Some think that. Some people thimk we are just plain dumb.
This story is interesting. Even though I started to watch it back in Feb., I’m hooked. Artemis, in my opinion, is a little OOC. The disappearance of Naomi Misora? What happened? I know I peeked, but you don’t know my name or how I look like. There is no way you can kill me.

Okay, Naomi died because of the death note. Light wrote it in to make her commit suicide without letting her body be found after he manipulated her into telling her real name, if you read carefully.
I had a theory about how the Death Note corrupts the owner’s mind, and a with a ego like Artemis’s, I thought it would be reasonable that he would be lured by the Death Note.

Well, yeah! That’s why I made her the second Kira. I don’t like her either, but I hate Misa more. And putting Misa in would make the story SO predictable to DN fans! Misa is such a moron. Another genius would be better. And I have to balance the AF and the DN characters otherwise I’m on shaky ground even for a crossover

Uh…I just told her that Minerva is the second Kira…I mean, I made it really obvious. I guess most DN fans are a bit biased. And I haven’t decided if I’m really gonna kill L. I might, I might not. I hope to end it after the sucessors come in, but before the 1/28 meeting. I’m not gonna include Mikami either. I hate that guy!

i like this crossover, but i really think you make arty a little stupid. i can never see him as a pawn to anyone. i see him ruling and planning the whole thing. make him win with l though because l is awesome.

Sigh…I know, but I like Light being the smarter one, and I know that Artemis is being a bit submissive. But I suppose he did learn some humility and…well…okay, I don’t have an excuse. I just wanted Light to be the dominant one! Artemis can tolerate being told to do something, while Light will throw a hissy fit or find some way out of it. I admit, it’s mostly favortism on my part. And Light’s much more ambitious and his mental strength is much greater. I’ll try to make them more ‘buisness-associate’ like in the future. Thanks for the reviews!

Yeah, Near and Mello are definete maybes. I can TRY to squeeze them in even if I don’t kill L off, but keep in mind that they’re only like, fourteen when the Kira case starts.
