Loading ...Chapter 4: Rivalry
Of course, the police were not complete idiots, after all, 52 reported crimminal deaths don’t tend to go unnoticed. Interpol, short for International Crimminal Police Organization, only take cases that involve two or more countries that are members of Interpol. Today, a meeting was in session in a G8 summit.
“52 reported cardiac arrests in the past week. If we count the ones who’s whearbouts are unknown, then the death toll could be over a hundred”
“Are you sure it’s murder, or just coincidence?”
“How could 52 heart attacks be coincidence? Of course it’s murder!” Someone else shouted.
Artemis Fowl was sitting in the back row of the Irish representatives. Of course, he wasn’t actually a member, only masquerading as one to obtain information. He stretched his legs and wondered briefly, if what he witnessed a week ago was simply a coincidence as well. After all, there was no such thing as a Death Note, could there?
But that would leave a lot to coincidence, from that traffic accident to the situation in the nursery. Besides, if faries could exist, why couldn’t Death Notes? Of course, he didn’t try to volunteer this information. After all, no one’s going to believe a fifteen-no-eighteen year old boy who snuck into the meeting. More likely he would be arrested.
“We believe this is a mass assasination carried out by a large organization”
“The only mass organization capable of carrying this out I believe, would be the CIA or FBI!”
“I dare you to repeat that!”
“Now please refrain from jokes of questionable taste”
“With so many crimminals dying, our pride as police”
“It’s not a matter of pride! I must say, it is a problem if condemmed crimminals are dying before their sentence is carried out”
“We have no choice. This is another one for L”
One of the Japanese asked:
“L? What’s that, chief?” Matsuda, a new Japenese representative asked.
Soichiro Yagami replied: “Well, no one knows who L is or what he looks like. But he’s solved countless unsolved cases so far. You could call him a sleuth.”
“But we have no way of contacting him and he only takes cases that interest him, if not, forget it”
“L is already involved. He started a few days ago” A man in a trenchcoat and fedora appeared.
“Watari”
“Huh? Watari? There’s another Japenese here?” Matsuda asked.
“He’s not with us. Watari is the only one who can contact L, but no one knows who he is either” Artemis, who overheard, leaned forward in his seat in interest.
“Silence, please, you will now hear L speak” He turned on his laptop computer and a L in Old English Five font appeared.
“Good afternoon. This is L. The case before us is one with unprecedented difficulty. It is a monstrous mass murderer that must be stopped at all costs! I will require the full cooperation with police worldwide. Japan in particular”
“Japan? Why Japan?!” Matsuda and Soichiro demanded.
“There is a high possibility that the murderer is Japenese, or is currently in Japan”
“But how?!”
“I think I’ll be able to show you in a direct confrontation with the killer”
Light was currently on his computer. New websites were being created in honor of this killer. They called him the god from hell, Kira.
People were finally realizing rightous judgement were being cast upon them. ‘Kira’ grinned to Ryuk.
Artemis was back in his hotel room. He encrypted his current findings into a file on his computer, and turned on the TV. Communication with Holly wasn’t really possible at this point, as his fairy communicator was smashed. And what kind of police would really believe of a supernatural notebook, especially if the source came from a 15 year old boy? His only option at the moment was to continue to work on the communicator, even if he had been unsucessful in repairing it so far. Not to say he hadn’t tried.
Suddenly, the news channel he was watching went blank for a moment, then turned back again, with a black haired, middle aged man at a table.
“We interrupt this program to bring you a live, global broadcast from Interpol”
“I am Lind L. Taylor, also known as L, the sole person able to mobilize police in every country worldwide. Crimminals have been the target of a mass murder spree. This murderer, commonly known as ‘Kira’ will be caught. I guarentee it”
So this is L Thought Artemis. Why show himself now? How would this help catch Kira? He can’t honestly think this would discourage him…
“Kira, I have a pretty good idea why you’re doing this, but what you’re doing…is evil!”
Artemis had to hand it to him, he was pretty gutsy to say this on global TV…especially if ‘Kira’ was watching.
‘L’ suddenly slumped over and died. A heart attack. Artemis reconized the symptoms immediately, shuddering slightly.
“I-I don’t believe it! Kira…you can actually kill people without direct contact…”
“What?” Light Yagami shouted at the TV. Ryuk was laughing beside him. Of course, it was Light that got aggrivated and wrote Lind L. Taylor’s name into the Death Note.
“Listen, Kira! The man you just killed was a condemmed crimminal scheduled to die at this hour…that wasn’t me. It said it was broadcasted globally, but this was only broadcasted in the area of Kanto, Japan. The fact that you were there was pure luck!”
“Hyuk. Hyuk” Ryuk laughed. “He got you there, Light”
“But I, L do in fact exist! So come on! Try to kill me!”
Back at the Kira task force office…
“Is he crazy? He’s going to die!”
“I’m still here! Can’t do it, Kira? So there are people you can’t kill. That’s a valuble clue”
“The police missed this, but your first victim was Otoharada and that was also just broadcasted in Japan! And he was just a guinea pig for testing your powers! So I knew that you, Kira, was in Japan! Now it won’t be long before I send you to die”
Light was never this humiliated in his life. So be it. L was going to die…soon.
“Kira, it would greatly interest me of how you commit your murders…but that is something I’ll find out…after I catch you!”
“Send me to die…he said” Light mumbled.
“L” Light snarled.
“Kira” said the voice onscreen.
“I’m going to find and dispose of you if it’s the last thing I do!” They shouted simtaneously. “I am… rightous!”
“Till we meet again, Kira…” The screen went blank again.
“So you’re both trying to find someone you know nothing about…and the first one who is found out is dead…” Ryuk smiled ruthlessly.
Humans are a riot!
“I’ll win…”
“Hyuk hyuk…I’m watching this contest to the end.”
Sorry that Arty is just a spectator at the point. He’ll have a major role, I promise…now how do I get Arty involved in this investigation? *think*

OH.MY.GOD I just LOVE death note I’m so happy you did a crossover! The story is really nice so far, I like it! Maybe Artemis should be on Light’s side. I like it that way. =D Just an opinion.
But great job so far. I’ll definitely check back.

Death Note is the awesomest anime/magna ever!!!!! Maybe Arty’d do better if he’s with L. You know, Light’s kind of like a more dangerous version of his 12 year old self.

I’m not into Manga, but I found Light’s story to be fascinating. I’m inclined to think that Artemis’s brainpower is match enough for anyone, but with a tool like the Death Note, he may have found a competent adversary…or will they be conspirators? It could easily go either way, and I don’t have a preference. I’ll check in on your story again.

Yotsuba is the company that got ahold of the Death Note after Light loses his memory…:o Oops. I think I said too much!
Hmm…also, maybe I’ll also give Arty the ownership of one Death Note later on and he loses his memory later…but I still need a dominant alliance.

I think one of the main reasons why he is so popular is because nothing can stand in his way. Not Ryuzaki, the FBI agents, being locked up, or the death of family members. He’s a hurricane that will tear up anything in its path. But I have more fantasies about Ryuzaki rather than Light…Ryuzaki’s so cute! Anyway, I’ll work on ch 4 if I have time.

Death and Artemis Fowl is THE greatest x-over ever! ^^ I wonder why no one ever did it though….

Once again a wonderful piece of Fanfiction from Star Jinin! Death Note is like the best ever manga in the world. I love drawing manga (however terrible at it I am). By the way, I know this will sound rather annoying but you spelt recognising wrong. Keep up the good work!!!

This is a very good story, but I would like to to point out something. When there is more than one person talking, it’s difficult to keep track of who’s saying what. So, can you maybe distinguish the dialogue. That would be much appreciated.

This sounds like such a cool thing! I only read one chapter, I’ve never seen/read Death Note, but it’s a great idea.

People are here to prove this wrong… How interesting. Even though this is off topic, I am Chinese. Some people think we are the smartest people in the world! Some think that. Some people thimk we are just plain dumb.
This story is interesting. Even though I started to watch it back in Feb., I’m hooked. Artemis, in my opinion, is a little OOC. The disappearance of Naomi Misora? What happened? I know I peeked, but you don’t know my name or how I look like. There is no way you can kill me.

Okay, Naomi died because of the death note. Light wrote it in to make her commit suicide without letting her body be found after he manipulated her into telling her real name, if you read carefully.
I had a theory about how the Death Note corrupts the owner’s mind, and a with a ego like Artemis’s, I thought it would be reasonable that he would be lured by the Death Note.

Well, yeah! That’s why I made her the second Kira. I don’t like her either, but I hate Misa more. And putting Misa in would make the story SO predictable to DN fans! Misa is such a moron. Another genius would be better. And I have to balance the AF and the DN characters otherwise I’m on shaky ground even for a crossover

Uh…I just told her that Minerva is the second Kira…I mean, I made it really obvious. I guess most DN fans are a bit biased. And I haven’t decided if I’m really gonna kill L. I might, I might not. I hope to end it after the sucessors come in, but before the 1/28 meeting. I’m not gonna include Mikami either. I hate that guy!

i like this crossover, but i really think you make arty a little stupid. i can never see him as a pawn to anyone. i see him ruling and planning the whole thing. make him win with l though because l is awesome.

Sigh…I know, but I like Light being the smarter one, and I know that Artemis is being a bit submissive. But I suppose he did learn some humility and…well…okay, I don’t have an excuse. I just wanted Light to be the dominant one! Artemis can tolerate being told to do something, while Light will throw a hissy fit or find some way out of it. I admit, it’s mostly favortism on my part. And Light’s much more ambitious and his mental strength is much greater. I’ll try to make them more ‘buisness-associate’ like in the future. Thanks for the reviews!
