Holly got Foaly to hack into Artemis’s hotel room and she soon flew through the window of his room. She stole a peek through the window. No Artemis…
Sighing in frustration, Holly plopped into a chair and decided to wait for Artemis to come back while she immersed herself with the television. All they got back in Haven was PPRL on reruns.
“Beep!” Holly jumped in her seat, hoisted her Neutrino, and turned around. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that it was only a laptop. Artemis’s laptop. Holly was just about to sit back into her chair and turn her attention to the TV again before her curiosity got the better of her.
Holly strolled over to the laptop and found that it was opened up to Artemis’s email. There was one new message. From Artemis. Why would he send an email to his own account? Unless…
Holly opened it up faster than a centaur with a carrot dangling in front of him. She just stood there, mouth open, agape in shock.
Holly.
I presume that you are in my hotel room by now. Please listen. If you are receiving this message, then it means that I am in an precarliment in which I cannot act. All I request of you is to find an associate by the name of Yagami Raito and hand him the slip of paper I have tucked under this laptop. It’s okay to reveal the existence of faries to him, as he can be mind-wiped later. Don’t do anything rash and please wait for further instructions

Holly couldn’t surpress a groan. What kind of trouble had the mud boy gotten himself into this time? Holly wasn’t exactly worried. Artemis had proved on countless occasions that he could take care of himself after the last vampire incident. She got contact with Foaly and muttered in a exasperated tone.
“Foaly, I need you to look up the address of one Yagami Raito”
(Yagami household)
Light frowned in frustration. Sure, he had accepted the existence of Shinigami long ago, but faries? There was a limit to how much of the supernatural he could believe.
“Hyuk. Hyuk. Who whoulda thought…?” Ryuk munched on an apple.
“What’s the quote?” Light crossed his arms. Holly stared for a moment, then flipped over the paper. Genii were all the same. There was no end to their paranoia.
“The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity. Ellen Parr” Holly read out loud.
“Hmm…alright, I trust you. Now, what’s this about Artemis-kun?” Light closed his eyes, bracing for the answer.
“He just sent me to deliver this note…” Holly held it out for him as Light intercepted it. He unfolded the flaps and read silently.

“Great…just great…” He muttered in exasperation. Light took out a lighter, preparing to burn the note.
“Wait! What did it say?” Holly urged impaitiently.
“Well, seeing that you don’t appear Japanese, I suppose I’ll offer you an explanation” Light pointed to the first three Japanese kanji and stated plainly. “Those three letters are pronounced Tanuki, or racoon dog. However, tanuki can also be defined as ‘take out ta’, so you remove all the ‘ta’s in the sentence as so”
Light erased the ta’s and the note now read:
ai no kami utagai wo daku
“Now, ai no kami means Eros, or goddess of love. In Japenese, we don’t use the letter L, so we spell it Eru. Artemis tried to warn me about L”
“L?” Holly interupted. “You mean the detective L who tried to threaten the mass murderer Kira the other week?” Holly pressed a hand to her face, muttering. “What has the mud boy gotten himself into this time? And what do you mean, ‘warn you about L?’ You don’t mean…” She glared sharply.
“No, it’s nothing illegal…at the moment. We simply have a bit of a disagreement with L…” Light reassured. Holly growled. She felt that this Yagami Raito could be even more manipulative than Artemis, and that was really saying something.
“Anyway,” Raito dodged the rest of the question. “utagai wo daku means harboring suspicion. However, judging from your words, I guess this isn’t the first time Artemis-kun has done something illegal?”
“True…” Holly muttered. “Well, if Artemis is in trouble, then I’ll do what I can to help” Seeing Light eye her equiptment apprehensively, she added: “And no, I can’t lend you any fairy technology as I’m on shaky ground as it is just for bringing them to the surface”
“Okay, I understand” Light spoke in a soothing tone. Holly hadn’t missed that spark in his eyes as he did so, though.
“Alright. Here. Take my spare phone. If anything comes up, don’t hesitate to call” Holly muttered, preparing to take off. Her suspicions were not completely soothed, though. She was sent to help in Artemis’s personal Kira investigation, and now he allies himself with such a suspicious character like Light Yagami? Something wasn’t right. Fairy instution was never wrong.
Light watched silently as Holly shielded and took off, then unfolded the last flap and reread it.

Yay! It wasn’t much of a chapter, and the Japanese was hell to translate, but I think I did a good job! The Tanuki code idea is actually from Case Closed and Bleach. Anyway, please review!

OH.MY.GOD I just LOVE death note I’m so happy you did a crossover! The story is really nice so far, I like it! Maybe Artemis should be on Light’s side. I like it that way. =D Just an opinion.
But great job so far. I’ll definitely check back.

Death Note is the awesomest anime/magna ever!!!!! Maybe Arty’d do better if he’s with L. You know, Light’s kind of like a more dangerous version of his 12 year old self.

I’m not into Manga, but I found Light’s story to be fascinating. I’m inclined to think that Artemis’s brainpower is match enough for anyone, but with a tool like the Death Note, he may have found a competent adversary…or will they be conspirators? It could easily go either way, and I don’t have a preference. I’ll check in on your story again.

Yotsuba is the company that got ahold of the Death Note after Light loses his memory…:o Oops. I think I said too much!
Hmm…also, maybe I’ll also give Arty the ownership of one Death Note later on and he loses his memory later…but I still need a dominant alliance.

I think one of the main reasons why he is so popular is because nothing can stand in his way. Not Ryuzaki, the FBI agents, being locked up, or the death of family members. He’s a hurricane that will tear up anything in its path. But I have more fantasies about Ryuzaki rather than Light…Ryuzaki’s so cute! Anyway, I’ll work on ch 4 if I have time.

Death and Artemis Fowl is THE greatest x-over ever! ^^ I wonder why no one ever did it though….
Chp 5 was my favorite chappie so far! ^^ If L (to Arty) is still the fancy L on the laptop, how is he eating a strawberry and drinking coffee?

Once again a wonderful piece of Fanfiction from Star Jinin! Death Note is like the best ever manga in the world. I love drawing manga (however terrible at it I am). By the way, I know this will sound rather annoying but you spelt recognising wrong. Keep up the good work!!!

This is a very good story, but I would like to to point out something. When there is more than one person talking, it’s difficult to keep track of who’s saying what. So, can you maybe distinguish the dialogue. That would be much appreciated.

This sounds like such a cool thing! I only read one chapter, I’ve never seen/read Death Note, but it’s a great idea.

People are here to prove this wrong… How interesting. Even though this is off topic, I am Chinese. Some people think we are the smartest people in the world! Some think that. Some people thimk we are just plain dumb.
This story is interesting. Even though I started to watch it back in Feb., I’m hooked. Artemis, in my opinion, is a little OOC. The disappearance of Naomi Misora? What happened? I know I peeked, but you don’t know my name or how I look like. There is no way you can kill me.

Okay, Naomi died because of the death note. Light wrote it in to make her commit suicide without letting her body be found after he manipulated her into telling her real name, if you read carefully.
I had a theory about how the Death Note corrupts the owner’s mind, and a with a ego like Artemis’s, I thought it would be reasonable that he would be lured by the Death Note.

Well, yeah! That’s why I made her the second Kira. I don’t like her either, but I hate Misa more. And putting Misa in would make the story SO predictable to DN fans! Misa is such a moron. Another genius would be better. And I have to balance the AF and the DN characters otherwise I’m on shaky ground even for a crossover

Uh…I just told her that Minerva is the second Kira…I mean, I made it really obvious. I guess most DN fans are a bit biased. And I haven’t decided if I’m really gonna kill L. I might, I might not. I hope to end it after the sucessors come in, but before the 1/28 meeting. I’m not gonna include Mikami either. I hate that guy!

i like this crossover, but i really think you make arty a little stupid. i can never see him as a pawn to anyone. i see him ruling and planning the whole thing. make him win with l though because l is awesome.

Sigh…I know, but I like Light being the smarter one, and I know that Artemis is being a bit submissive. But I suppose he did learn some humility and…well…okay, I don’t have an excuse. I just wanted Light to be the dominant one! Artemis can tolerate being told to do something, while Light will throw a hissy fit or find some way out of it. I admit, it’s mostly favortism on my part. And Light’s much more ambitious and his mental strength is much greater. I’ll try to make them more ‘buisness-associate’ like in the future. Thanks for the reviews!

Yeah, Near and Mello are definete maybes. I can TRY to squeeze them in even if I don’t kill L off, but keep in mind that they’re only like, fourteen when the Kira case starts.
