Loading ...Sorry if the story is more Death Note than Artemis Fowl…and I’m trying to figure out how to add the faries in without complicating things.
Chapter 10: Crossroads
Tick…tock…tick…tock…
The college entrance exams seemed to take forever. Light was already done of course, and settling back into his seat wondering what other tactics L was going to use on him.
“You! Student number 163!” The proctor called. “Sit proplerly!”
In curiosity, Light turned back. Three seats behind him, there was a black haired, baggy-eyed boy chewing his fingernails. Light gawked. L stared back in interest.
(Imperial Hotel)
Artemis was sitting back in an armchair, hoping despite himself, that L wasn’t going to do anything stupid…the Kira task force couldn’t afford another death…
(Tou-oh University)
“Gosh, I’m so proud of you, Light…”, said Ryuk. It was the Tou-oh entrance ceremony. Of course, Light had scored the highest, so he got to deliver the speech at the ceremony…but then, so did one other student… Hideki Ryuuga.
Everyone who attended wore suits and uniforms, except Ryuuga (who was loitering in a white T-shirt and jeans). As soon as he strolled upon the stage, whispers began to circulate.
“Hideki Ryuuga? As in the famous pop singer?”
“No way! No way he’s smart enough to get into Tou-oh”
“Different, aren’t they? The guy on the left” A boy gestured to Light. “Looks like he’s been bred for this all his life, while the guy on the right looks…maybe he’s one of those mad geniuses”
“The guy on the right? He’s hot…” A girl reddened. Her friend scolded her. “Are you kidding? The other guy is way better looking”
“It’s not the looks that count…I should know” The two girls whirred around.
“Huh? Who are you?”
“Saoirse Berkely” replied Artemis. “Just a Irish exchange student. I scored third on the exam” He flicked through a magazing absentmindedly. Of course, he was sent by L as a onlooker just in case Light tried anything.
Soon, the speech was over. L followed Light apprehensively.
“Light Yagami. You are chief Soichiro Yagami’s son and have been following the Kira case very closely. Am I correct?”
“Yes…” Light replied tensely. Just who was this man?
“I am L”
Light froze. Wha-? Why would he just reveal himself like this? Is he stupid? Light felt a trickle of sweat roll down his neck. No, I can’t let it show on my face…gotta stay calm…act natural He turned back towards ‘Ryuuga’.
“Well, if you are L, I’m honored”
“Likewise” L started gnawing his fingernail.
Light took a seat next to Artemis and shot him a death glare. Artemis merely shrugged.
“Hyuk hyuk…now what are you going to do, Light?” Ryuk chuckled.
I can’t kill him…firstly, he’s obviously using the fake name of the pop singer. And even if it was real, the singer’s face might pop into my head and if he dies but this guy doesn’t, he’ll guess I’m Kira. And there’s no telling if this is really L or a proxy…I can’t do anything to him! Light growled internally.
Minutes after the ceremony, Light and Ryuuga met in front of the college.
“Your father has told me that you hold a strong interest in the investigation and that you are quite intellegent” L fidgeted. “Perhaps you can come work at the task force sometime…”
“Yes, perhaps I should think about the offer” Light waved goodbye as Ryuuga boarded his limo.
(Operations Booth, Haven City)
“All right, Foaly. What has Artemis got planned for us this time?” Holly strolled into the Operations Booth, groaning internally. Whenever the Irish mud boy was involved, the situation was never pretty.
“Well, you see…you know how there seems to be a human killing spree above ground?” Foaly chewed on a carrot.
“Of course. Everyone underground and above it knows. Only how do you know it isn’t mere coincidnce? Artemis went to investigate, didn’t he?” Holly’s heart sank.
“Yeah. Apparently, he got into a fix with the whole Kira deal, otherwise he wouldn’t be asking for help” Foaly muttered.
“The council will never agree!” Holly stared anxiously. “So all the help you’re going to give Artemis is giving tips through the communicator? He’s dealing with a telepathic, murderous psycopath!”
“Actually, he’s going to get help if you’re willing to sacrifice your vacation…” Foaly typed quickly on his computer. “I’ve downloaded a temporary surface visa for three weeks… and I’m sure the LEP won’t notice if one measly set of equipment goes missing…now the only problem is…will you help him?” Foaly handed her the chip.
“I thought you’d never ask” smirked Holly as she took her visa from Foaly and headed towards a shuttleport.
(Yagami household)
“Oh, hi Artemis! It’s nice to see you again!” Sachiko Yagami beamed. It was a nice change for her son to bring home friends instead of holling up in his room studying.
“Yes, it’s a pleasure see you too, Mrs. Yagami” Artemis bowed slightly.
“Mom! Can’t you see what’s really happening? Light’s homose-” Sayu called.
“Sayu! Don’t be rude!” Sachiko scolded.
“But Mom! Who knows what Light and Artemis is doing in his ro-” Sayu didn’t finish as Sachiko pushed her into her own room while she protested. Artemis flushed slightly as he was led into Light’s room. Light slammed the door shut.
Smash. Artemis felt somthing wet trickle down his chin. After a few seconds, he realized it was blood.
“Bastard! Why didn’t you tell me?” Light roared. Artemis gaped. He had never seen him lose control like this. Light’s eyes glowed crimson.
“I only found out at the last minute. And I couldn’t possibly obtain a picture of him to show you what he looked like, as he doesn’t allow cell phones in the hotel room. Bringing a camera would have been suspicious, and I don’t have the Shinigami eyes, and killing him right there would draw instant suspicion” Artemis glowered. He would put up with this abuse for now, but when push comes to shove…
Light sat at his desk, and suddenly clutched his head and broke through his composed mask. “Argh! He got me! That damn L…I’ve never been so humiliated in my life”
“Then just do the eye deal with me and kill him” Ryuk suggested. Artemis stared. How could Light Yagami take killing someone that easily? How could he ’sacrifice’ lives like it was nothing?
“Then what if he really isn’t L? That’ll be like telling him that I’m Kira!” He growled. “Don’t compare us humans to Shinigami! We actually have to care about what’ll happen after you kill someone!” Ryuk was also startled by Light’s sudden lack in control.
“Heh…heh…ha ha ha ha!” He suddenly started laughing maniacally. “There’s no need to be so negative…after all, this is proof that he has no proof…fine. If he wants to be my friend, fine. I’ll get close to him, get him to tell me his name, and then eliminate him”
Artemis had a sudden irresistable urge to drag Light to a asylum, but dismissed it immediately. Now he was deeply confused…where should his loyalties really lie? With Light or L? Power or Justice? Greed or Charity?
(Somewhere in India)
Meanwhile, Holly was speeding towards Japan in her Hummingbird wings, unaware of the tangled web she would intrude on.
“I’m coming, Artemis…” What you don’t know won’t hurt you? Yeah, right. This time, what she didn’t know would eventually hurt her.
So anyway, do ya’ll want Ryuuzaki or Light dead? I really want to keep Light alive, but…

OH.MY.GOD I just LOVE death note I’m so happy you did a crossover! The story is really nice so far, I like it! Maybe Artemis should be on Light’s side. I like it that way. =D Just an opinion.
But great job so far. I’ll definitely check back.

Death Note is the awesomest anime/magna ever!!!!! Maybe Arty’d do better if he’s with L. You know, Light’s kind of like a more dangerous version of his 12 year old self.

I’m not into Manga, but I found Light’s story to be fascinating. I’m inclined to think that Artemis’s brainpower is match enough for anyone, but with a tool like the Death Note, he may have found a competent adversary…or will they be conspirators? It could easily go either way, and I don’t have a preference. I’ll check in on your story again.

My vote’s still that Arty teams up with L. And Yotsuba is the…. rival I think of the police that Light’s dad works or is in charge of.

Yotsuba is the company that got ahold of the Death Note after Light loses his memory…:o Oops. I think I said too much!
Hmm…also, maybe I’ll also give Arty the ownership of one Death Note later on and he loses his memory later…but I still need a dominant alliance.

I like Light too!
I think one of the main reasons why he is so popular is because nothing can stand in his way. Not Ryuzaki, the FBI agents, being locked up, or the death of family members. He’s a hurricane that will tear up anything in its path. But I have more fantasies about Ryuzaki rather than Light…Ryuzaki’s so cute! Anyway, I’ll work on ch 4 if I have time.

Death and Artemis Fowl is THE greatest x-over ever! ^^ I wonder why no one ever did it though….
Chp 5 was my favorite chappie so far! ^^ If L (to Arty) is still the fancy L on the laptop, how is he eating a strawberry and drinking coffee?

Once again a wonderful piece of Fanfiction from Star Jinin! Death Note is like the best ever manga in the world. I love drawing manga (however terrible at it I am). By the way, I know this will sound rather annoying but you spelt recognising wrong. Keep up the good work!!!

This is a very good story, but I would like to to point out something. When there is more than one person talking, it’s difficult to keep track of who’s saying what. So, can you maybe distinguish the dialogue. That would be much appreciated.

This sounds like such a cool thing! I only read one chapter, I’ve never seen/read Death Note, but it’s a great idea.

People are here to prove this wrong… How interesting. Even though this is off topic, I am Chinese. Some people think we are the smartest people in the world! Some think that. Some people thimk we are just plain dumb.
This story is interesting. Even though I started to watch it back in Feb., I’m hooked. Artemis, in my opinion, is a little OOC. The disappearance of Naomi Misora? What happened? I know I peeked, but you don’t know my name or how I look like. There is no way you can kill me.

Okay, Naomi died because of the death note. Light wrote it in to make her commit suicide without letting her body be found after he manipulated her into telling her real name, if you read carefully.
I had a theory about how the Death Note corrupts the owner’s mind, and a with a ego like Artemis’s, I thought it would be reasonable that he would be lured by the Death Note.

Well, yeah! That’s why I made her the second Kira. I don’t like her either, but I hate Misa more. And putting Misa in would make the story SO predictable to DN fans! Misa is such a moron. Another genius would be better. And I have to balance the AF and the DN characters otherwise I’m on shaky ground even for a crossover

Uh…I just told her that Minerva is the second Kira…I mean, I made it really obvious. I guess most DN fans are a bit biased. And I haven’t decided if I’m really gonna kill L. I might, I might not. I hope to end it after the sucessors come in, but before the 1/28 meeting. I’m not gonna include Mikami either. I hate that guy!

i like this crossover, but i really think you make arty a little stupid. i can never see him as a pawn to anyone. i see him ruling and planning the whole thing. make him win with l though because l is awesome.

Sigh…I know, but I like Light being the smarter one, and I know that Artemis is being a bit submissive. But I suppose he did learn some humility and…well…okay, I don’t have an excuse. I just wanted Light to be the dominant one! Artemis can tolerate being told to do something, while Light will throw a hissy fit or find some way out of it. I admit, it’s mostly favortism on my part. And Light’s much more ambitious and his mental strength is much greater. I’ll try to make them more ‘buisness-associate’ like in the future. Thanks for the reviews!

Yeah, Near and Mello are definete maybes. I can TRY to squeeze them in even if I don’t kill L off, but keep in mind that they’re only like, fourteen when the Kira case starts.
