There were several things that Holly was sure she would never happen to her in her career as a LEP officer. Being held hostage by a twelve-year old Irish mud man was one. Fighting off hordes of goblins in Koboi labs was another. Being trapped in a amusement park with a bunch of trolls and travelling to Hybras were not on her to-do list either.
But never, did she imagine that she would ever be confined in chains and attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire in the dead of night, all while unarmed and unarmored.
Holly rolled over to one side to avoid being tackled by an enraged Rin. Despite the new throbbing pain in her side, Holly managed enough calm to activate the voice-commands on her helment.
“Foaly! This is Holly, requesting immediate backup, requesting immediate-”
SMASH.
Oh dear lord. Foaly is going to give her a real grilling for that shattered helmet.

Unknowingly to them, Rin’s mind had gone into autodrive. Nothing she did or thought made any sense anymore.
Just what was reality? What marked the borderline between reality and fantasy?
What were faries to mud men besides human fantasy made by the human mind?
Lies were constantly being conjured to avoid interference…Rin knew this from personal experience. Her life was surrounded by lies, so much that when the final lie was revealed, her perception of reality shattered. Who was there to trust anymore? Rin may have suffered at the hands of a tragedy, but she still wanted to be normal, to accomplish what every little fairy wished to be.
She wanted to live.
She wanted to laugh.
She wanted to love.
She wanted to dream.
She wanted…to believe.
They were merely fairytales to her now, an option that was never availible to her. She was destined to bear the burdens alone. Vampires were dangerous and unpredictable by nature, and extremely prone to desire. Rin was condemned to this way of life the moment she entered her mother’s womb.
But Artemis Fowl…he had entranced her, was the prince charming that she thought she would never encounter.
He lived.
He laughed.
He loved.
He dreamed.
He…believed.
Artemis finally brought her perspective to her, shown the world to Rin. He was just like her, living a condemned life of sorrows and sins. Artemis had severed the chains to the Fowl fate. They were kindred spirits. It made Rin wonder…
…could she have lived like that too?

You can start rating by the next chapter. That is where things really start getting exciting. You expect the main conflict is Rin going home, but it really isn’t. It’s much worse.

DRAT!!! I forgot Minerva doesn’t appear before the Lost Colony! Oh well! Readers, just pretend that Minerva meets Artemis during that time! Stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid. Actually, scratch that. I’m just going to pretend this is after the lost colony and everything is settled down with all the mind wipes on Arty’s parents and Holly is still going solo.

Yeah, I forgot the vampire smile. And besides, vampire sight is greatly dilluted by light. I also could not come up with a decent title, and it will seem like a bloody lily later on. I think that covers everything. Oh, and I have bad grammar that I’ll try to correct.

I’m not really good at those “sweet” moments, but I’ll try in the future. Fear not, Arty fans! There IS a cure, it just depends on if Rin is willing to help them (or if she runs out in fear or disgrace).
