Loading ...I swear, I did not read Twilight around the time I wrote this. Heck, it’s gonna sound like it, but I took no ideas from the book. Just thought I’d put a little disclaimer
“I appreciate the chilvary here, Adularia, but this really isn’t necessary” Rin groaned. After the time travel incident, Adularia had insisted that he would be hovering over her shoulder at every second and had even insisted placing a binding spell. Now Rin could not go more than twenty meters away from her big brother even if she could sneak away from his eyes. Adularia smirked.
“It was either this or you couldn’t come at all” he reminded her. Rin sighed. Adularia was way too protective. A golden retriever could be less obsessive, or more trusting, for that matter. True, after the many close calls they’d had in the last few weeks, Rin could almost symphathyze with Adularia. Almost.
Everyone were trudging through the wildlife and shrubs of the Tiveden forest when Artemis popped the question.
“Why do we need to come to this forest?”
Rin hesitated for a second. Surely it was treason, spilling all these secrets. But the whole species already thought they were outlaws, what other harm could there be?
“I guess it spawns from an old legend” She mused. “Apparently, when our god, the founder of our species came to the world, he fell in love with a mortal woman. He had met her in this very forest and turned her against her will” A muscle twitched in Rin’s index finger. “She threw quite a tantrum, and eventually came to the forest and blessed this place so others could escape their fate”
Butler blew out a low whistle. Minerva exchanged dark looks with Rin, and continued storming toward the supposed site. Rin couldn’t help being lost in thought as she thought about the great moments and terrible times in her past…
“What’cha doing, Adularia?” I giggled. As if I didn’t already know. Adularia had been staring at the pretty girl, Lisa for a whole day.
“Oh be quiet. She loves me…she loves me not…she loves me…she loves me not…” Adularia sat, plucking flower petals off a daisy.
“Why don’t you just ask her out? It shouldn’t be too hard. You’ve already got half the ladies in town running after you.” I pouted.
“You’re just jealous” He grinned.
“Isn’t it obvious?” I blushed.
“Hello? Earth to Rin?” Holly waved in Rin’s face, snapping her out of her riverie. “You’re going in the wrong way. That way’s the cliff”
“Oh, yeah. Thanks” Rin returned to her thoughts momentarily.
“You really think you should leave all that charcoal near your lab papers?” Adularia questioned.
I rolled my eyes. “As long as we’re not using the fire, there really isn’t much to worry about, is there?”
He nodded. “I suppose…”
Mother and father were sick in bed, and housekeeping duties naturally fell to me. Adularia soon turned to go to work. I would have been at work too at the science department, if it weren’t for the fact that our parents’ fevers were worsening. I waved him goodbye and turned to the chores.
He came back, nine hours later, just in time for dinner. I remembered getting into quite a fight with him, puncturing a wall and tearing up half the wallpaper in the process. Adularia’s shoulder accidentally bumped into a candle, and a fire erupted.
“Run, Rin!” Adularia shielded me from the licking flames.
“No! Mom and dad! They’re still in there!” I shrieked.
“I’ll turn back and get them later! I promise! You need to get out!”
I soon got woozy from the smoke, and collapsed. When I woke up, Adularia was beside me, leaning far from me, and shuddering in a way that I knew he was crying. Soon, a warm wetness spread down my face, and I knew I was, too.
“I’m sorry” his voice was dry, cracked.
“For what?” My head was still spinning
“I couldn’t keep my promise”
“I should be the one to apologize. It was my fault. If I had only listened to you about the stupid charcoal…”
“I was the one who set it off, though…and the arguement…I’m sorry” Adularia mumbled. “Here. How about I make you a promise I WILL and can keep…I promise to protect you forever. I won’t leave your side”
I smiled. “I was counting on that”

Yeah, and after her encounters with mud men, vampires will think of Rin as a traitor (oops… I think I said too much).

You can start rating by the next chapter. That is where things really start getting exciting. You expect the main conflict is Rin going home, but it really isn’t. It’s much worse.

DRAT!!! I forgot Minerva doesn’t appear before the Lost Colony! Oh well! Readers, just pretend that Minerva meets Artemis during that time! Stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid. Actually, scratch that. I’m just going to pretend this is after the lost colony and everything is settled down with all the mind wipes on Arty’s parents and Holly is still going solo.

Yeah, I forgot the vampire smile. And besides, vampire sight is greatly dilluted by light. I also could not come up with a decent title, and it will seem like a bloody lily later on. I think that covers everything. Oh, and I have bad grammar that I’ll try to correct.

I’m not really good at those “sweet” moments, but I’ll try in the future. Fear not, Arty fans! There IS a cure, it just depends on if Rin is willing to help them (or if she runs out in fear or disgrace).
