Loading ...Blood oozed out from her muscule tissue. Purple sparks erupted and tried to repair the damage, but it did not heal completely as Rin had spent much of it looking after Artemis.
“May I ask what you are doing?” Rin glared at Adularia.
“I’m really, really sorry, sis” Adularia quickly scrambled to her side.
“I don’t mean that!” Rin limped over to the Oviraptoridae. “We only needed to collect a feather sample, not kill the poor thing!” Rin shot the last of her magic through the bird’s injuries and plucked a few feathers off the Oviraptoridae before sending it off on its way.
Butler had stared momentarily, speechless. Adularia sighed. “Sis had always been a compassionate child. What she just did does not surprise me” Butler nodded and immediately understood Rin’s determination to save Artemis.
Later at the fire that night, Butler filled Holly in on the details of the afternoon. Rin was already put to bed and everyone else was up, packing things up and preparing to return to the present.
Everyone returned to Fowl Manor the next day. Minerva was there and was euphoric at the obtainment of the feathers. Everyone were gathered at the living room of Fowl Manor for a mini conference.
“I have buisness associates that specialize in unusual…items. We will be able to obtain the items that we are familiar with on this list” Artemis commented. Adularia convieniently excluded Rin from the meeting.
“Hmm…the rest of the ingredients will be made from common insect extracts and other elements that I have kept in my storage” Adularia held up a small brown sack of powder.
“So we’ll just boil up a pot and throw in the ingredients?” Holly added hopefully. Adularia sighed.
“No, it is not so simple. There are complications. Think back. When the People try to complete the Ritual, they don’t just get any old seed from any old tree and stick it wherever they think is convenient. The same principal goes for the antidote. There are conditions”
Adularia hesitated for a few seconds and then continued. “Sorry, but I have to make the request that Rin does not come with us while we travel to concoct the potion. I know that our sucess rate of creating the potion without her are only fifty percent, but-”
“What do you mean?!” Minerva nearly screamed. “What about Artemis?” Adularia almost flinched from the venom in her voice. He suddenly glared at her menacingly and tried to calm down.

Rin had gotten suspicious. She had every right to be suspicious after all, Adularia had shut her in a room and requested her not to come out while she could hear talking from the living room. She crept stealthily into the room.
“Look, Rin’s my ONLY living relation and I’d like to keep it that way! She’s the only family I’ve got and if I lose her…” Adularia could not bear to think of the alternative.
Holly cut in. “Look, Minerva, Butler. Adularia’s only being a good brother! Can’t you understand that?”
“All I ask of you is that we please keep sis out of the action” He pleaded. Artemis, Butler, and Minerva stared at each other in awkward silence. Adularia sighed in exasperation.
“Sis, please come out. I know you’re listening” Adularia murmured. Everyone jumped out of their seat in surprise and turned toward the spot that Adularia was staring at. Rin stepped out meekly, staring apologetically.
“So you heard about half of it, huh?” Adularia watched as Rin nodded slowly.
“I’m not a child anymore” Rin stated plainly.
“But you’re not an adult either” Adularia pointed out.
“You baby me too much. I can make my own decisions and I demand, not ask, that I come along” Rin glared.
Adularia half-grimaced. He did not like the idea of his little sister braving the dangers of the surface…but true, the only time she had gotten hurt was by accident… He pursed his lips as he made the final verdict.
“Fine” he growled grudgingly. “On the condition that we will not be seperated”
“I think I can agree to those terms” Rin grinned slyly as she heaved her rucksack across her chest.

Yeah, and after her encounters with mud men, vampires will think of Rin as a traitor (oops… I think I said too much).

You can start rating by the next chapter. That is where things really start getting exciting. You expect the main conflict is Rin going home, but it really isn’t. It’s much worse.

DRAT!!! I forgot Minerva doesn’t appear before the Lost Colony! Oh well! Readers, just pretend that Minerva meets Artemis during that time! Stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid. Actually, scratch that. I’m just going to pretend this is after the lost colony and everything is settled down with all the mind wipes on Arty’s parents and Holly is still going solo.

Yeah, I forgot the vampire smile. And besides, vampire sight is greatly dilluted by light. I also could not come up with a decent title, and it will seem like a bloody lily later on. I think that covers everything. Oh, and I have bad grammar that I’ll try to correct.

I’m not really good at those “sweet” moments, but I’ll try in the future. Fear not, Arty fans! There IS a cure, it just depends on if Rin is willing to help them (or if she runs out in fear or disgrace).
