Loading ...This is Artemis’s flashback from a hour before
“There’s no such thing!” Artemis and Minerva protested. Adularia was unperturbed.
“You mud men probably initially didn’t belive in faries, magic, or other dimentions either” he retorted.
The two genii fell silent. It was true that time travel is more or less like dimention travel, but reversing time was viewed more or less than plain fictional fantasy.
“If that was possible, why wouldn’t vampires simply used that method to reverse their own mistakes, and why couldn’t we have simply reversed the bite?” Minerva countered.
“Because,mud girl” Adularia sighed. “Do you have any idea what it’s like to change history? Terrible things could happen even by the tiniest mistake. We are just going to take a tissue sample, and that’s not really going to change anything. It is a crime to alter the course of fate”
Artemis flashed back to the present. Or more accurately, the past. So that was why Artemis and everyone else was here trudging knee-deep in mud in the swamp. Every five minutes or so, he stooped to examine a random life form.
They had found a way get back to the Cenomanian period from a ancient scroll that was entrusted to the Miermere family for millenia. After everyone except Rin and Adularia were killed, the responsibility naturally fell to him.
Everyone were in this era for days. Oviraptoridae were extremely rare and they had not encountered any. Tonight was no exception. Holly and Adularia were sitting at a lake fishing after provisions ran out. Holly had volunteered to help Adularia fish in order to confirm some of her suspicions.
After nine minutes of silence, Holly picked up the courage to speak.
“Why are you really helping us?” Holly broke the silence. Adularia laughed.
“So you got suspicious, eh?” he turned serious for a moment. “You do have every right to be suspicious. Truth to be told, helping you guys made up half the reason I came here”
Holly waited paitiently for him to continue.
“My original intent for following you all was to protect my sister. I discovered of her whereabouts only after she infiltrated the Intellegence chamber. I couldn’t get in with all the guards, and I’m not the best with magic…” he looked slightly embarassed but went on. “I have been noticing things about her…”
“What?” Holly stopped paying attention to everything else around her.
“Sis reacts very particularly around that mud boy…Artemis, was it? She looks at him in a particular way, and blushes often at what he says”
Holly froze in place. She then started giggling. “So you’re saying that…”
“That’s exactly what I’m suggesting. Rin’s really sensitive to these sort of things and I can imagine how guilty she must feel that she bit her…crush…” Adularia couldn’t supress his own bout of giggles. “I would really appreciate if you didn’t repeat this conversation to Sis…”
That’s why I originally intended for this to be a romance fic… *giggles* Oh, and I have sent Minerva home for this prehistoric adventure for now because I don’t want to have so many charachters in here.
A low growl rang back from camp. The pair bounded off toward the sound. They came upon a strange sight. Butler was wrestling a growling and snarling Artemis against a tree, careful not to injure his principal. Rin quickly ran over to bind Artemis with a magic barrier of garlic powder (hee hee…garlic is belived to have healing properties). Artemis still snapped and thrashed like a beast.
“We don’t have much time” Rin panted. “He’s already advancing to the next stage” she had a tone of worry in her voice.
“How long?” Adularia burst in.
“We have five days at the absolute most-or Artemis is a permanent vampire”

You can start rating by the next chapter. That is where things really start getting exciting. You expect the main conflict is Rin going home, but it really isn’t. It’s much worse.

DRAT!!! I forgot Minerva doesn’t appear before the Lost Colony! Oh well! Readers, just pretend that Minerva meets Artemis during that time! Stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid. Actually, scratch that. I’m just going to pretend this is after the lost colony and everything is settled down with all the mind wipes on Arty’s parents and Holly is still going solo.

Yeah, I forgot the vampire smile. And besides, vampire sight is greatly dilluted by light. I also could not come up with a decent title, and it will seem like a bloody lily later on. I think that covers everything. Oh, and I have bad grammar that I’ll try to correct.

I’m not really good at those “sweet” moments, but I’ll try in the future. Fear not, Arty fans! There IS a cure, it just depends on if Rin is willing to help them (or if she runs out in fear or disgrace).
