Loading ...Butler had anticipated this. There was no way you could break into a fort undetected without facing a few lackeys or the main players.
Rin’s consiousness of doubt was nagging at her again. Everyone was right. She couldn’t steal from her own race…even to undo the harm she had caused. With one fell swoop, she grabbed Artemis, Holly, Butler, and Minerva and levitated out a open window. They would never have stood a chance. Everyone could only watch as they just stared in bewilderment. Rin flew everyone to a nearby forest.
“What did you do? We were so close to retreving the antidote recipe!” Holly was beside herself with anger. Artemis was unperturbed.
“Obviously, it would do us no good if the city counselors had known of our presence and there was no guarentee that it was still in the building. We have no weapons of any sort and Rin obviously just saved us. You should be thanking her instead of slandering her” said Artemis.
Rin blushed furiously, unacustomed to being defended instead of insulted. Everyone else was still looking mutinious, with Minerva in particular.
“Artemis” Minerva started gently. “We are just worried. If we don’t turn you back, you may never be able to return to living with humans” Minerva paused worriedly as Artemis did not really appear concerned in the matter.
In his mind, Artemis was thrown by Minerva’s statement. Yes, he was quite excited by the newly gained power, but at the cost of his friends and family?
Rustle. Rustle
Everyone stopped their bickering. Something was in the bushes. Butler cocked his Sig Sauer before anyone could speak. A dark, cloaked figure appeared. He paused for a moment, then tossed down a roll of parchment down to Artemis’s feet, then he scurried out of sight.
Rin took the scroll from Artemis, as it was likely that it was written in vampire cant. She unraveled it and gasped, stunned by the revelation.
It was the antidote recipe.
“We’ve got it… the cure!”
Everyone gathered closer for a better look. Indeed it was. Labeled in the vampire system of measurement. Little did they know that obtaining the instructions was only half the battle…
The cloaked man stopped to catch his breath. There. The easy part done. Now it was all up to them to reverse the curse…
The dark figure turned to the more omnivous part of the forest, accidentally dropping a half faded photo.
In the photo background was a beautiful (at least, in their opinion) park filled with swear toads. In the center was Rin, who looked about six in human years in the arms of another person whose face was too faded to see…

Yeah, and after her encounters with mud men, vampires will think of Rin as a traitor (oops… I think I said too much).

You can start rating by the next chapter. That is where things really start getting exciting. You expect the main conflict is Rin going home, but it really isn’t. It’s much worse.

DRAT!!! I forgot Minerva doesn’t appear before the Lost Colony! Oh well! Readers, just pretend that Minerva meets Artemis during that time! Stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid.stupid. Actually, scratch that. I’m just going to pretend this is after the lost colony and everything is settled down with all the mind wipes on Arty’s parents and Holly is still going solo.

Yeah, I forgot the vampire smile. And besides, vampire sight is greatly dilluted by light. I also could not come up with a decent title, and it will seem like a bloody lily later on. I think that covers everything. Oh, and I have bad grammar that I’ll try to correct.

I’m not really good at those “sweet” moments, but I’ll try in the future. Fear not, Arty fans! There IS a cure, it just depends on if Rin is willing to help them (or if she runs out in fear or disgrace).
