OK, I’ve already tried writing this once before, but i got, but i guess alot of people liked it, so i’m gonna try to rework it. but if you guys like this preview, you might have to help me see this through, k? i get writers block like a obese person’s arteries. =sigh= here goes.

Artemis was getting frustrated. He couldn’t dig up a single pixel of information on his distant cousin, Nimue McBraze. Nothing. The only thing he knew about her was the praises his mother was constantly singing to make the girl grow on him before she arrived. Which wasn’t going to happen. The girl was a cartoonist and a dreamer. Normal. Boring. Suddenly, Artemis’s ring phone buzzed, and Holly literally screamed in his ear.

“Does it HAVE to run in the family, Fowl?” Artemis sook his head deftly, half out of confusion, half to clear his head of the ringing that followed Holly’s abrupt demand.

“What do you mean, Holly?”

“Mulch and I were trailing a rogue troll the LEP hadn’t picked up yet… did you here about that, by the way? Sool is concentrating fully on the remodelling of the city and undermining his political opponents, so only half the Recon force is available for reconaissance. Using Recon officers as body guards. Seriously, the gnome is worse than Foaly.”

“The point, Holly?”

“Well, while we were trailing the thing, Mulch and I noticed it was abnormally hard to track. It took me a moment to figure out that it was because the thing wasn’t destroying anything in its path. It was as if it were looking for something specific.”

“Do you know what that thing was?”

“Not… exactly. We caught it before we were positive, but when it manuvered through the streets of an American neighborhood as if it had grown up there, I suspected magic, so I asked Foaly if he’d cross reference to see if there was any fairy activity nearby. There was.” Holly paused for dramatic effect. she suspected Artemis could probably finish the story for her.

“‘Does it have to run in the family?’” Artemis quoted, sitting back in his chair. “I only have one family affliated with mine in America. Holly, are you quite sure?” Holly sighed.

“I am if you know one Nimue McBraze.”

So she wasn’t completely normal then. Artemis chuckled. “A new game’s afoot.”
