Chapter 11: Underground Assistance

The hotel room was the color of the acid polluted skies of major cities, and Holly didn’t like it. She eyed the bland pictures of Artisan versions of pueblo housing and finally, disgusted at the mudman culture sat down on one of the two beds in the room. Butler was looking at the screen of his laptop intently as if the next pop up would tell him where Artemis was located.

Holly had been on the surface for about two hours and the connection between Foaly and Butler was going in and out. Foaly blamed interference; however Butler seemed to have other ideas.

“I think it’s them, these Extendeds people,” He moved the mouse around and clicked, “I bet they’ve done something to the connection.” Holly sighed, it was the twelfth time he had said that and it was starting to annoy her. It was odd Butler wasn’t usually this jumpy, but Holly was afraid that if she caught him off guard he might seriously hurt her, or himself. The connection was back up in no time and finally Butler and Holly had a good look at Foaly’s face.

“I’m telling you Butler there is no such thing as a mudman censoring my access to the surface. No mudman would have the brains!” Butler shook his head.

“Perhaps you recall the fact that a girl was able to set up a bio-bomb and destroy it; in broad daylight, with almost ease.” Foaly looked at his screen the sound of typing had stopped.

“I’m not sure who that was but I’m getting calls from everywhere right now, and I can’t let this operation get out, if someone is watching us, they can see us even easier.” Butler shut up for a moment not knowing what to say.

“Until we hear from the Spin person was have nothing to go on. I propose we wait here till then. What do you think N deg 1?” N deg 1 was sitting on the office chair facing everyone, his eyes were closed and his hands clasped in his lap. He had changed much since their last meeting, though outwardly he had not changed, he wore a gown like outfit that was completely purple with only the occasional gold fringe. He was almost a full blown Warlock and was by far the most powerful and gifted the Fairy world had seen. His eyes opened but only for a moment.

“I sense a disturbance.” Said N deg 1, and N deg 1 closed his eyes once more, meditating.
