Chapter 3: Flight delays

Holly was rolling her eyes as she waited in an extensive line at the Tara shuttleport. She was just about at the point of hi-jacking a shuttle when she was next in line. a middle aged pixie slumped in a swivel-chair averted his gaze gaze onto holly who promptly demanded a ticket for the 5:45 ride. “very well.” the sleepy pixie practically snored.

She snatched the ticket and stepped into the shuttle. Once she got into the shuttle holly was trying to sleep but she couldn’t seem to. her eyes would close but she just lay the listening to children whine and corny shopping mall music play. after a while of lying there she finally fell asleep but was woken about 15 minutes later by a familiar feeling: her soldier sense. It was buzzing so much in her head she could swore she could hear it. There was eminent danger here. her eyes snapped open like lighting and she looked around. no one seemed aware of anything unsettling. Then again, no one had quite been through what she had. Her eyes whipped across the room and searched out of all the windows. Nothing.

Then she it out of the corner of her eye. Something black and moving quickly. She had seen pictures of these in the academy. A human grenade. Make that grenades. her first thought was, How in Frond’s name…, but she quickley pulled herself together when she heard the first explosion. It had hit the roof of the tunnel. The muffled but loud explosion  caused some rock and rubble to fall onto the shuttles roof. screams appropriately  followed.  Holly  went into  LEPrecon   captin mode. “Okay, everyone!  move to the North End  of the shuttle  wall!” As she was recognized as the hero of the goblin rebellion and the Zito probe this order was hurriedly  obeyed. Holly had commanded this because the attckers  were firing from the south end and if enough rubble hit the roof it would collapse in the middle, crushing anyone in the central part of the shuttle.BANG! another grenade hit the tunnel roof. She crouched and thought, humans…wait…Artemis! But no, Artemis was over being evil. She thought.But it could have all been a bluff. He was calming us down for one last attack. Then, no he’s honest I know for sure! He admitted we were friends even.

Now the attacker was throwing whole clusters of grenades and the roof of the tunnel crumbled and its contents finally collapsed the shuttle’s roof. It was then Holly realized, they’re not trying to kill us. They’re trying to trap us and get in! Holly looked up at the 10ft hole in the ceiling. Standing in the gap with a grin on their face was the person Holly least expected to see. “Crap.” she whispered under her breath.
