A/N: The song is: Our Solemn Hour, by Within Temptation =D.
Sanctus Espiritus! redeem us from our solemn hour
Sanctus Espiritus! insanity is all around us
Sanctus Espiritus!
Sanctus Espiritus!
Sanctus Espiritus!
10,000 years ago . . .
“Retreat! Retreat!”
“Why do we retreat? We should fight until the end, not run away and let the humans do this to us! We demons shall not stand for this.” the leader of the demon forces bellowed.
“We have no choice, if we go on, they will wipe us out. We may have magic and technology, but they have strength in numbers. If you want to continue this fight, go ahead, but we are retreating.” the elf snapped back.
In my darkest hours
I could not foresee
That the tide could turn so fast to this degree
Can’t believe my eyes
How can you be so blind?
Is the heart of stone, no empathy inside?
“I agree with the elf, this shouldn’t be pushed too far or else they will cause our extinction.” Qwan said, coming up.
“We shall not leave Hybras!”
“We won’t have to; with the help of the other demon warlocks we can lift our island out of time and avoid this blood bath. We’ll just need you to get everyone on the island.”
Time keeps on slipping away and we haven’t learned
So in the end now what have we gained?
Sanctus Espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour
Sanctus Espiritus, insanity is all around us
Sanctus Espiritus, is this what we deserve?
Can we break free from chains of never-ending agony?
“That’s madness! We should stay and defend ourselves, and kill the humans who stand in our way!” a young demon protested.
“Not now! If you want to stay and be killed, go ahead. Those of us who would rather survive can be lifted out of time with the island.” Qwan snapped.
“Alright,” the general agreed.
Turning to face to demon forces he commanded: “Everyone retreat! Return to the island!”
Are they themselves to blame
The misery, the pain?
Didn’t we let go?
Allowed it, let it grow
If we can’t restrain
The beast which dwells inside
It will find it’s way somehow, somewhere in time
It was an awe inspiring sight. The warlock ring contained seven warlocks, who were floating in the air, a sphere of crackling multi-colored energy surronding them as they chanted.
Two demons, who were antagonistic, creeped up behind them, set on remaining in time. Together they leaped into action, intiating their pitiful plan. One, who won a Darwin prize in attempting this feat, fell into the volcano and was no more. The other was luckier, for he was able to grab a warlock and pin him to the ground, trapping him. Qweffor dissolved into magical sparks, which entered N’zall.
It was too late; there was no going back, they had only to hope that fate would be kind.
Will we remember all of the suffering
`Cause if we fail it will be in vain
Sanctus Espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour
Sanctus Espiritus, insanity is all around us
Sanctus Espiritus, is this what we deserve?
Can we break free from chains of never-ending agony?
Qwan instinctively used gargoyle’s touch as the circle of warlocks fell ever closer to the ocean, gaining sped with every passing second. Though they were in a magic circle, their magic was not working harmonously like it had, instead, the warlocks could no longer hear each others thoughts, and were caught off guard. All but Qwan; and he alone survived that night, and was left alone, at the bottom of Saint George’s channel, for thousands of years.
Sanctus Espiritus!
Sanctus Espiritus!
Sanctus Espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour
Sanctus Espiritus, insanity is all around us
Sanctus Espiritus, is this what we deserve?
Can we break free from chains of never-ending agony? (ending agony!)
Now . . .
As the group of five struggled to get into position and create the magic circle required to save Hybras, Qwan was reminded of a time very similar to this one. One that occured ten thousand years ago, and ended in a way that no one could ever forget. Remembering these grim memories made it even more of a concern that they do this right.
Let’s hope for the best, shall we?
Sanctus Espiritus, redeem us from our solemn hour (solemn hour!)
Sanctus Espiritus, insanity is all around us (all around us!)
Sanctus Espiritus, is this what we deserve?
Can we break free from chains of never-ending agony?

Wow! This was good!
(finally, another person who knows what the Darwin awards are!)
I don’t think I’ve heard the song before though, which kind of ruined it for me.
whoops almost forgot *first comment dance*

Within Temptation is a Dutch Goth Rock band, which is really popular in Europe and not as popular here in the states, which me friend introduced me to.
