A/N: Rated PG 13.

“You took my heart, Deceived me right from the start, You showed me dreams, I wished they’d turn into real, You broke the promise and made me realize, It was all just a lie.” Angels, Within Temptation, The Silent Force.

Vinyaya’s POV

Look’s like everyone was right. I can’t trust Zala.

“I never felt sorry for what I did, I felt sorry for the fact that I couldn’t finish what I started.” She snarled, lashing out with her magic again.

“Why, Zala? I trusted you,” I said, rising shakily to my feet.

“Why not? I want power. I’ll always be treated like an outsider. People are always wary approaching me, and I’m tired of it.”

“Zal, you forgot your meds,” Zala’s little sister Lydia said, coming down the corridor, looking deceptively human. “Zala?! What are you doing?”

“Little sister, you never learn, do you? Why don’t you leave me alone?” Zala asked with mock cuteness, her pink tinted power crackling around her.

“It’s because of the state of your mental health.” Lydia said, walking over to her sister and holding her hand in both of hers.

“Leave me alone.” Zala snapped, hitting Lydia with a bolt of her magic, which sent her tumbling backwards.

With grace, she got on her feet. “I didn’t want to do this, but . . .” Using her own blue and silver magic, Lydia transformed into her fairy self. She was now taller, her hair was longer, and she had gossamer butterfly wings.

Ignoring her sister as if she was no threat, Zala turned back to me. “You aren’t going to survive this, commander.”

“Yes she will,” Lydia ran up to her sister, intent on stopping her.

Turning away, she swung at her sister’s head. Deftly, Lydia did a backbend snapping her legs up, and kicked her.

“I’m sorry about that. Zal’s mental health hasn’t been very good for a while.” Lydia replied, tying Zala’s hands behind her back.

“It’s alright,” I replied, “I thought I could trust her.”

“I used to think the same, until Devin entered her life. He has a fairly big criminal record recorded at the ZEP Criminal Records Hall. He used control spells on her, almost like your Mesmer.”

Lydia’s POV

“I’m sorry to tell you this, but we’ll have to bring her to trial.” Vinyaya said.

“I understand; we do the same in Zatolia.” I answered, picking Zala up, who was unconscious while her magic healed her.

The Trial.

Alysa’s POV

I stood at the back of the court room; using the magic my mother gave me to be completely invisible effortlessly.

“Holly Short, you stand before us, charged with stealing information with Artemis Fowl. How do you plea?”

“Not guilty, I would never do something that could hurt the People.” She said, tears in her eyes.
