Haven outer rings 8:20
As soon as the clock woke her up twenty minutes after she was supposed to report to Commander Vinyaya, Holly Short knew it was going to be a bad day. Half the lights around her apartment were strangely dim, and all the clocks, despite being guaranteed to outlast a fairy, were either speeding up or slowing to a crawl. She dashed outside to her new Pegasus mach eight hover car. As she sidled into the driver’s seat, she thought that it had been worth joining up with section 8 just to be able to get one of the company’s cars. Nothing out of the ordinary happened till she reached the inter city highway, where for some odd reason a number of cars had broken down and their occupants were frantically trying to restart them so not end up with their boss’s disapproval. Luckily she made it to the section 8 headquarters without a hitch, but when she entered the main lobby, it was oddly empty.

“Hello,” She called out tentatively.

“Anybody here?” thinking that she was late for a briefing, she quickly dashed to the tech offices and found Vinyaya, Foaly, and a few of the tech elves frantically rushing about.

“Holly, where have you been?” said Vinyaya.

“I’m sorry Commander, there was a  …Incident with my clocks and  …”

“No time for that now, we have an emergency on our hands. The city is in distress, half of the power is  gone and were running on reserves, Foaly assures my that the generators he designed are sending maximum energy output, but  I doubt that centaur could design his way out of a paper bag.” She snorted.

“I heard that,” Foaly called from around the door “And I will assure that my machines are in perfect working order.”

“Well if your machines are in “prefect” order, then maybe I could lower your budget, seeing how everything is so dandy and serene,” Vinyaya replied. Foaly did not answer to her, but Holly could hear hooves clopping and annoyed mutters coming from the door. “Commander, Holly I think there may be a situation”.

Artemis was beginning to get annoyed as lines of code filled his monitor.  Foaly has taken a liking to hacking into his computers and throwing up all of the defenses he could muster from it. The first few times had been a challenge, but now the centaur was getting annoying.

“Butler,” called Artemis “I think it’s time we paid Foaly a visit, maybe convince him from playing his games with my files.” Butler was currently in the corner, rifling through a Guns & Ammo catalog, merely glanced his eyes over at Artemis, knowing full well he was enjoying the challenge. Artemis continued,

“I mean really, if Foaly is going to keep hindering my work I really must have a chat with him”. “Hmm… let me see, Oh Foaly, you must be joking, this program can be overrun by simply choosing a particularly empty node, and sending it information until it causes the entire system to slow down. Then I must insert a wedge program to keep the doors unlocked as I retrieve my files, a child could do it”. Artemis continued to tap the keyboard when a rumble that shook the foundation of the house and caused several of the computers to fall over ran through. Butler was up and covering Artemis as soon as it had started

“keep your head down, that was either a bomb or an earthquake.”

“ Oh come now Butler, you know as well has I do that Ireland is not located on any tectonic plates” Artemis said “and I doubt it would be a bomb because the shockwave would’ve blasted the windows.” Butler cautiously went to one of the windows and opened a sliver to peer out.

“I think, Artemis, that you would come and see this.” Artemis strolled over to the window and peered out.

“What in all of geographically correct is going on?”

“I think it would be wise, to see what our fairy friends are up to,” Butler said as they stared upon the many cracks and canyons that had formed in the Manor’s field.

Haven, Section 8 headquarters 8:45 P.M
“What do you have for us, Foaly?” Vinyaya asked glumly. “And if it isn’t good news I swear I’ll make your budget so small, not even your sensors will be able to detect it.”“What do you have for us, Foaly?” Vinyaya asked glumly. “And if it isn’t good news I swear I’ll make your budget so small, not even your sensors will be able to detect it.”“Oh, ha ha Commander, very funny, well I’m afraid that it’s odd news,” answered Foaly “I’ve checked and double checked all the generators and power lines, and they all say the same thing, one hundred percent output to all of Haven, I even had one of the interns check his car that mysteriously broke down. The internal systems say it’s in perfect working order, besides the fact that it doesn’t work.”

“Then why does the city have half of its power missing, and all of its appliances going screwy?” Vinyaya demanded.

“Well, you see Commander, the problem isn’t technology based, its magic, and powerful magic to fool my gadgets into working at half speed yet think they’re in pristine condition.” Foaly said. Vinyaya began to chuckle

“That’s rich Foaly, that’s really rich, it would take at least nine warlocks of extreme power to cause this much damage.”

“You’re forgetting something commander, our little demon friend No1.” Holly cut in.

“Wait you’re actually thinking No1 is doing this, I mean I’ve heard some tales, Foaly, but that’s ridiculous.”

“Maybe, but weren’t Qwan’s exact words were “he could move this island all by himself in ten years” I mean it may not even be him, maybe it the other warlocks just controlling him” retorted Foaly.

“I don’t care what you think Callibine has been doing for, you’re still as paranoid as ever” Holly muttered.

“Hmmm…” Vinyaya said “Maybe Short, but that doesn’t mean the centaur isn’t wrong, I want you to head to Hybras, and check up on No1.”
“But, Commander-”

“No buts, Holly I want this thing over with before the public starts to panic.” “Yes, ma’am” Holly said. On the way down from the briefing deck, Holly sighed. “Yep,” she thought. “It’s gonna be a long night.”

It awoke. Its first thoughts were not of hunger or anger or sadness. It merely thought to itself in a perverse glee

“Well, well, look likes those priests did have the globes to use the urn, I wonder how many it took with me.” It looked around, if you could call it that. More specifically it shifted its shadowy mass around its chamber of rock.

“Wait” it thought “this seems different, how long I have been out”. As if to answer its question, a thunderous drilling started up and began to shake the chamber’s walls. “What… hmm it seems that they have forgotten the old times, I wonder how long until”. So the thing waited, and thought, and planned

  1. BlackOpal Says:

It was hard to read, a few parts repeated.
Maybe try making it into a new paragraph each time somebody speaks, for example:
Holly said, “hi.” Foaly said “Bye.”

    Make it:
    Holly said, “Hi.”
    Foaly said, “Bye”

Other than that it was good, I’m filing it under action, if you have a different theme, then just comment.

  2. xxemxx Says:

It looked as if you had the same thing three times! And you’ve got a blank chapter the plot was good it was just hard to read
