Disclaimer: Unfortunatley i’m not the genius who invented Artemis Fowl II *sigh*

Chapter 1 - Blasted to the past

Lower Elements, Police Plaza, Operations Booth
Artemis looked skeptically at Foaly’s time machine. Ever since his return from Hybras, he had been pretty sensitive about time travel.
“Are you absolutely sure about this?”asked Artemis for the eleventh time.
“Yes I’m absolutely sure” replied the centaur.”I used it to get Julius back with us and he’s fine. Right?” He elbowed the commander.
“It was no picnic, Growled Root.”I almost died a second time! And don’t call me Julius, horsy boy!”
“That makes us feel loads better”, Artemis quipped, his voice submerged in sarcasm even a goblin could recognize.”Right Holly?”
There was no reply. The recently reinstated LEP captain sat in the corner, not talking, her face an ominous green. She could not talk for fear of vomiting. She was no fan of time travel either. The first time the trip was unexpected. The second time she was concentrating too hard on getting everyone to the right place to feel nauseous.
“Don’t worry Holly” said Artemis reasuringly. “The worst that could happen is you getting you’re eye back.”
She managed a weak smile. “Thanks Artemis”
“Hate to break up this lovely banter” interjected Foaly, “but I recommend that you two get into the portal and fast.”
They clambered in, figuring that Foaly knew what he was doing. As he powered it up, Holly had time to throw up and say “D’Arvit” before they were sucked through space and time.
Quite suddenly, they found themselves in the same Operations booth that they had just left, only Foaly was sitting in a different chair tinkering with some hot, hissing metal, Commander Root was working on a very large packet and muttering things about ‘reports’, and much to Artemis’ surprise, Butler was squeezed into a chair pouring over his favorite edition of Guns and Ammo.
Foaly looked up, completely unsurprised “There you are” he said matter-of-factly “I was wondering when you’d arrive”

“Thanks for the warm welcome” was Holly’s only retort.

Butler showed slightly more emotion. He dropped his book, shuffled over to them as fast as is possible kneeling (he was too tall to stand up) and wrapped them both in his enormous arms.
“I was so worried” he said. And then he turned to Artemis. “Don’t ever do that to me again! I don’t care how many crazy schemes you concoct but don’t ever materialize into another dimension without telling me first!”
During the Butler’s lecture, Artemis had been picturing him with the long hair and beard that he had last seen him in. He chuckled.
“What’s so funny” Butler demanded.
“Nothing”
Artemis didn’t think the giant bodyguard would take warmly to the idea. Holly turned to look at Foaly.
“I have a few questions” she told him.
“Fire Away”
“First of all how did you know we were coming?”
“Simple. My future self sent me a letter two days ago telling me that you would arrive and not to panic”
“And you believed it?”
“It also said Caballine would throw me a surprise birthday and that night she did. Secondly?”
“How did you save the commander?”
This time it was Root who answered. “Well you see..
Artemis cut into the conversation
“We’ve got a problem.” The others stared at him. “We’re trapped”

Chapter 2 - Call Me, Crazy

Foaly tried everything. After he had tried everything for the second time, he called a group meeting. Artemis suggested Butler could try to manually open them, but it was no use. At least after the Opal Kobi incident he had an intercom to the outside. Unfortunately everything else was the same. He had the same tinted windows and reinforced doors. And since his power was shut down, he had no way to use the few escapes he had. Artemis logically stated that they should not waste their time trying to figure how to get out, and should also not attempt to get out.
“Well then what should we do Mud Boy?” growled Root, his face turning a deep magenta. “Sit around here and have a tea party?”
“No” said Artemis calmly, if not a bit coldly.
“Then tell me what we should do!”
“We should try to find out who is behind this”
Everyone’s first guess was Opal Kobi. But everyone also knew that was impossible. Almost impossible. With the fiendish pixie, you could never be sure.
With the intercom, Root managed to reach the facility where she was being held. Unfortunately (for the gnome) Root got stuck with an incompetent gnome guard, and everyone knows the phrases Commander Julius (beet)Root and incompetent do not go well together.
“I want to talk to Miss Kobi.”
“But she’s asleep”
“Do you think I care? I’m stuck in a very small booth with a centaur that has spinach for brains, and you’re worried about disturbing the rest of public enemy No. 1? WAKE HER UP!!!!”
By now Root’s face was a reddish mahogany.
“But…” stammered the assistant.
“NOW!”
“Miss Kobi you have a visitor” crooned the gnome.
“I am not a visitor, I am law enforcement!”
“Very well, the law enforcement would like to speak with you”

“What do you want?” came Opal’s voice over the line.

“Out with it. I know you’re behind it”

“Ah, Julius what a pleasant surprise.”

“Stalling is no good, Kobi. And you will address me as Commander Root”

“Listen, Commander, whatever trouble you’re in I would dearly love to be responsible, but unfortunately, thanks to Miss Short and that bratty Mud Boy, I’m here in the most heavily guarded maximum security cell under the world. Sorry to disappoint you.

The line went dead.

Chapter 3 Surprise!

Chateau Paradizo
Minerva Paradizo sighed. Butler had called an hour ago saying that Artemis was back. Of course he needed some time to get settled in, but if it were her she would have called by now. Then she had a thought. Who knew where he had showed up. He could still be traveling home. He didn’t have her number, even though Butler had given her his cell phone number but that didn’t mean it worked the other way around. Then she had an idea. She would call him. That would be a nice surprise for him. She dialed the number.

Police Plaza, Operations Booth

Artemis rubbed his head trying to think. He could feel the other’s gazes trained apon him.
“So it wasn’t Kobi.” Was all he could think to say. He couldn’t concentrate. Something was nudging at the back of his mind pushing to get out. ‘Kobi sounds and awful lot like Kong’ Concentrate! that was it KONG!
“Kong” Artemis shouted. The others started. Artemis hurridley regianed his composure.
“Kong” Artemis repeated, this time slightly quieter. “It has to be him. He has the experience, and he has the motive. He obviously wants revenge on demons and all faries that he believes are demons. And he want’s revenge on me Butler and No1.” Then a sudden thought struck Artemis.
“Minerva. She has no idea. Obviously Kong wants to get revenge her beacuse…. Well at any rate we have to warn her and…
“Artemis, how could it be him?” Foaly interupted. “Julius mezmerized him and made him forget everything. Plus even if he did remember, he doesn’t know anything about the L.E.P. let alone me. You’re girlfriend is fine!”
Artemis ignored the comment, turning to Root. “Commander, was Kong behind glass?” he asked urgenlty.
Root looked back at his memory of that day. “D’Arvit” he breathed.
“We have to warn Minerva!” Artemis insisted.
Butler had his cell phone to his ear. “It’s a bit late for that Artemis.”

Chapter 4 - The Great Escape
I suppose it is the right time in the story to mention a person that has been in all the other Fowl adventures, so it makes sense that he would be involved in this one. I am refering of course, to the talented dwarf Mister Mulch Diggums. To sum things up Mulch was bored. PI bussiness was slow, and ever since Holly had become Section 8 and then dissapeared, he hadn’t even had a partner to talk to. So when an urgent message came from Holly asking him to preform a very important mission he almost actually whooped for joy. The happy ballon swelling inside him deflated a little when he realized he would have to avoid a crazed ex-bodygaurd. After his first encounter with Butler, (even though the pair were know good friends) he was still wairy of bodygaurds of any sort, ex or not.
Chateau Paradizo
Minerva was agitated. Why did Artemis have his phone off?
Just then Billy Kong stepped out of the shadows. “Suprised?” he asked his eyes glittering.”I disabled his cell phone.”
Before Minerva had time to scream or even react, she was tied to a chair and gagged. Kong decided it was time to make the boastful speech that most Megalomaniacs do, the one that reveals their whole plan, then brags about how ingenious they are compared to their enimies. The one that gets them into trouble later beacause the people trying to stop then know all their seacrets. So Minerva decided that it would be wise to listen. But she had a call to make first.
Minerva Paradizo squirmed in her seat (which wasn’t easy considering that she was tied up) much in the way a young child would if they needed to go to the bathroom. Billy Kong made the same connection, and ordered one of his heanch men to untie her so that she could use the facilities. Of course once inside the bathroom she opted not to use the toilet and instead take out the miniscule cell phone concealed in a secret pocket on her dress. Her father had insisted that she have it for situations like this, but she was not going to call him. She punched in her chosen number. She waited.
“Hello this is Butler how may I help y…”
“Not so loud” Minerva hissed.
“Oh, it’s you. Listen a friend of mine is coming to get you. He should be there in about and hour.”
“Great, thanks. Once I get back to the room that Kong’s keeping me in, he’s going to start his whole big speech.”
“We have to stop talking now but keep your phone on, just press the mute button. See you soon I hope, bye.”
“Bye.”
Minerva flushed the toilet and let the water run for a bit. On the other end Butler smiled. The old bathroom trick worked every time. The henchman was waiting for her outside.
he escorted her back into the room and tied her back up in the chair, though he left off the gag. Kong didn’t want his audiance to be too captive.
Mulch had been breaking into human dwellings for years. He hadn’t minded losing his magic, because dwarfs really didn’t have much anyway. Instead he relied on only his special abilites (sensative wiry hair that hardened when plucked out, an unhinging jaw, and hardening spit that when covering the face put people asleep) to do what he did best. He had been to the chataeu before so he knew his way around (both under ground and inside the house) so he didn’t have to worry about getting lost. The only thing he would have to be concerned about was the mud man Holly mentioned, but as long as he wasn’t as big as Butler, Mulch was not unduly concerned. The clay was even good. Mulch was very happy with his mission indeed.
Minerva wasn’t having such a good time. ‘I have been listening to this barbaric Mosuier Kong for over an hour now. At least he decided to giveaway how he trapped Artemis, Butler and Hollly.’ thought Minerva. Where was that person Butler was talking about? She was sick of hearing of his plans of world domination, and inwardly cringed every time he came back to the subject of what he was going to do to her, Artemis, and No1. It was not fun being kidnapped, especially if the kidnapper was named after a vicious gorrilla. ‘He chose well’ she thought. ‘because he ceartainley smells like a gorilla.’
Mulch crept through the house disabling security camaras as he went. Now all he needed to do was find the room where they kept the Mud girl and they could stroll right out. In the end it was the voice of the mud man boasting of his plan that led Mulch to Minerva.
Police Plaza, Operations Booth
“Replay it please” Said Artemis, for about the 3rd time since they had got the message, Foaly had been smart enough to record the part of Kong’s speech that regarded the booth for them, with something battery operated, Butler obliged and Artemis got back to work. He was so close he could taste it. He redoubled his efforts, leaning against the doors. ‘One more cable’ he told himself. ‘one more and you’re done.’ The doors gave way, sending Artemis sprawling out into the street. Butler chuckled, helping Artemis up.
“Good Job” congratulated Butler.
“Thanks, but you could have warned me about those doors.”
“You’re the genius here remember.”
Holly came between the two humans. “Will you two stop it? We’ve got a Mud Girl to save.”
Foaly led them to the eqipment room issuing Holly and the Commander a moonbelt, a pair of wings, a Nutriano 2000, and a above ground suit and helmet each. As they strapped on the eqipment, Butler checked to make sure all his weapons were operational. Once they got above ground, Butler led everyone (except Foaly, who had opted to stay at the operations booth) to the Bently and they all climbed in. They had barely gotten their seat belts on when Butler hit the gas, and they went speeding off to Chataeu Paradizo.
Minerva was about to go stark raving mad just when Mulch burst into the room with a gun, and ordered everyone in the room (namely Kong and his assistant) to back away from Minerva, hands in the air. They obliged. Before they had time to realize that his gun was fake, Mulch ambled over to Minerva, untying her with one hand and holding his usless gun with the other. After he had untied her he opened his bum-flap.
“Hold your nose and your breath” Mulch instructed Minerva before spewing about two tons of digested clay and fowl smelling gases at Kong and his goon.
It was perfect timing. The Fowl Bently pulled up to the house just as Mulch and Minerva were racing out. The two lept in, and Butler pulled out of the driveway as fast as he could manage. After Butler was certain that they were not being pursued and lowered their speed, he suggested that they at least try to find out who had supplied Kong with his fairy knowlge. Artemis had a hunch.

Chapter 5-Lost Keys

In transit from Chataeu Paradizo

On the way back to Fowl Manner, (they had decided to head there) Artemis fired up his laptop. Within minutes he had hacked his way onto the fairy internet. He typed in the phrase “Keys”. Thirty three results came up. He closed the laptop. There was time enough to confirm his theory later.
Hawaii, Lanai Island
Athena grimaced. She stared at the equipment before her. She couldn’t believe that the woman who called herself her mother was actually making her preform such an impossible task. ‘I take that back, the woman is not human, she is to odious to be catagorized’ thought Athena. Athena was a genius, with the highest IQ in the United states. Not that her mother cared.
Athena’s mother, Hydra Charybdis was a weathy woman that lived in Hawaii. She liked the lavish lifestyle, and was well known in society. But unfortunatley, she was the kind of annoying simpering woman that was feared by her lessers and scorned by her betters. She had decided early on that she did not have time for a husband or a child. All that changed when someone in the social circle, gave birth to a couple of very acomplished children. So Hydra was detirmined to aquire one of her own. That was how she adopted Athena. Then, when it was no longer fashionable to have children, and the woman with the acomplished ones sent them off to live with distant relations. Hydra had no relations (that would talk to her anyway). She had tried boarding school, but Athena had made it through all the classes, grade levels, and had graduated in about a year. She had been only five. Hydra just resolved to keep her as busy and humble as possible.
She had jet black hair, saphire eyes, and was aged fifteen, and had completed more karate courses than anyone in the country (her mother had wanted hula, but there were no available spaces) had a job at a local restraunt, and on that perticular day, was reqired to remodel the bathroom before her mother got home the next day. She was a pretty girl, and when determined, usually got her way. (starting to sound like anyone we know?)
Athena strolled over to the computer, went to the Home Depot site and ordered everything she would need. Luckily, it would get the mansion early tommorow. Then she attended to her other chores.
Fist she entered her mother’s room, and tidied it up. Then again, tidied wasn’t the word. The room shold have been declared a federal disaster zone. Then she scrubbed and or sweeped the floors and vacumed. After finishing up her chores and grabbing a bite to eat, she climbed up several flights of stiars to her room in the attic (her mother had gone for the whole Cinderella thing) and colapsed on her bed exhausted. That night she dreamed she was trying to find someone she couldn’t see, but every time she got close to him a figure came in the way, separating them.

Fowl Manor
Luckily Artemis’ parents were away, and only the twins were home, being gaurded by Juliet. After Root deemed it feasible, it was determined that it was okay for the twins to see the fairies. There were four of them now, because Root had called Trouble Kelp over to help with the situation. Trouble had been a bit spooked seeing Butler, but once he had been introduced and had recieved and apology, the two took a liking to each other.
As they went through the manor, they found it quiet and empty, Artemis was just about to climb to the stairs to the twin’s room to see if they were asleep, when all of a sudden a cascade of books, toys, and what might have been food came rushing at Artemis and knocked him to the ground. A young, dark haired boy came rushing down the stairs.
“I got you, I got you, I got you, I got you,” he yelled.
“Very funny Myles, now please let me go.” replied Artemis impatiently.
“Yes, you should Myles, that was mean.” A young girl with a similar hair color was also coming down the stairs. She was pouting. “I tried to warn you Arty, but Myles said he would put the curse of the zombies on me.”
Meanwhile, everyone else was trying to contain their snickers.
Artemis sighed.”Beckett, you know that’s not real.” Artemis struggled up. Glaring at Juliet as she came down the stairs.
“I wouldn’t be so sure Arty” said Juliet smiling. At the mention of ‘Arty’ every one had to redouble their efforts to keep from laughing. Artemis decided it was time to end the exchange. “Becket, Myles, these are some friends of mine that will be staying for a while, but you can’t tell mom or dad ok.” The twins nodded, and after acquainting themselves with the faries in the form of jumping all over them and asking them lot’s of questions, trundled off to go play with Juliet. Just then, for some strange reason Artemis had remembered the time not so long ago when his mother had said that most Fowls were born twins. He shook the strange thought out of his head.
After enjoying a dinner prepared by Butler, they all turned to Artemis. He started his speech. “A long time ago, an elvan king decided that his library was not vast enough, and they needed one book that told people everything. He gathered all the warlocks under his reign, and they set about the task of making a series of scrolls that would record everything that would and could happen, and how to go about doing it all. Even the emporer realized such knowlage should be safegaurded, and he buried each of the scrolls in a different location. Then the warlocks made keys, basically tablets of ivory with inscriptions. The keys were buried under what is now a Tiawanese prison, along with a peice of parchment that explained about the scrolls and let the bearer have two questions answered. My guess is, in an attemp to escape, Kong dug up these artifacts, asked what faries were, got a detailed description of everyone, escaped, asked how to trap us in the booth and did so, then tried to capture you.” He gestured to Minerva.
“But why would the emperor do that?” Asked Holly “Why would he put all the keys in one place?”
“He didn’t” replied Artemis. “He left one key out. So we need to find that one key before Kong does. I think it might be in Hawaii.”
“And why is that?” Root asked.
“Because, at the time, it was the one location on earth farthest away from where the people lived, it was uninhabited by both humans and faries, and it housed several volcanos.” Replied Artemis.
“But Artemis, your parents are going to be back the day after tommorow.” Butler pointed out.”They suspect something it you just up and go to Hawaii.”
“No they won’t” replied Artemis smiling. “Not if Minerva and I are competing in the international young scientist tournament. Genii from all over the world go to compete.”
Hawaii, Lanai Island
Artemis loved to fly. It helped him think. On this particular flight however, Butler had opted to control the plane. This was because his parents had commandeered the lear jet for a trip to the Caribbean, so Butler had to borrow one. After the had gotten past the man who had lent them the jet, Artemis asked if he could fly.
“No Artemis.” snapped the bodygaurd.”This isn’t like the lear jet. I don’t need my job to be any harder than you insist on making it.”
Now as he sat amidst the others, Artemis pondered this reaction. The outburst had been most unlike Butler. Artemis glanced at the Eurasin man. His shoulders were sagging. Butler was tired, though he had slept well. The realization of what had happened hit Artemis with full force.
“Butler” said Artemis evenly.
“Yes” replied Butler testily.
“You hve been drugged” He replied.”So I would advise you tp put the auto pilot on.”
“How do you know.”
“You are irritable, tired, and your eyes are bloodshot. The person who gave you the plane and drug must have been one of Kong’s assistants.”
Butler didn’t argue, and instead took a seat in the back, handing the wheel over to Artemis. As Artemis took his seat, Butler slumped down in his, the tranquilizer penatrating his nervous system. It was at that exact moment that things started to get a lot more complicated. There was a plane pursuing them. Unfortunatley it was also shooting at them.
“Artemis what is going on.” Holly demanded and the entire group strolled into the cockpit. Needless to say it was rather cramped.
“Kong’s pursuing us, he’s managed to knock Butler out, and to make things worse he’s decided to launch missles at us.” Replied Artemis, teeth clenched.
“But you do know how to fly don’t you.” Minreva asked nervously.
“Yes, but it’s not an ideal situation. I’m having trouble concentrating on the missles, keeping us in the air, and keeping an eye on everything at the same time. Minerva, can you fool the scanners so that Kong will believe we’ve crashed? Commander, Major Kelp, in the back you’ll find our weapons. You need to take Kong out of the air.” Every one hurried away to complete their tasks. Only Holly and Artemis remained.
“Holly do you think you could help me.”

Holly sighed. “I’ll try Artemis, but from the looks of things, this peice of junk handles worse than a slammer and is twice as complicated.”
She took the co-pilot seat.
“Good, just keep the eye on the dials, and tell me if anything lights up red.”
Eventually Minerva succeded in fooling Kong and they were able to land.
Chapter 6 Lost and Found
Hawaii, Lanai Island
Butler had recovered and they had managed to make it out of the airport without anything eventful happening. Holly, Trouble, and Root shielded (Mulch was disguised as a human child) and they went off to find their hotel.
They were standing, on, or realativley near the beach, still in search of their hotel. To conserve their magic, all the faries were now disguised as children. And Minerva had finally convinced everyone that they should ask for directions. As they were wondering who to aproach, a woman with a ridiculasly pink outfit that consisted mainly of furs came up to them, practically dragging a fifteen year old girl in tow.

Athena was embarassed, an emotion that she did not feel very often. First her mother had the audacity to go out in public in her ensemble, then she eavesdropped, and then she had actually approached the people she was listening to. As her mother practically dragged her along, it occured to her who the pale youth about her age was. The famous Artemis Fowl. She very much admired that fact that he and his family had gone straight. She felt more embarassed than ever. He was probably here for the competition which she herself would be competing in. Also he was very rich. She knew her mother had drawn the same conclusion. The part about who he was and weath, at least.
“Hello, I’m Hydra Charybdis and this is my adopted daughter Athena.” Said Hydra in a sickenly sweet tone. “I couldn’t help overhearing-
‘Lair” thought Athena.
-and I was wondering if you would like to stay at our house. I have a very imortant meeting with Nick Roguse, pherhaps you’ve heard of him, he’s a clothes designer.” After seeing the blank looks on their faces she continued on. “So I won’t be there, Athena will be.”
Apon hearing that he would not have to deal with her, Artemis turned to Butler, who nodded his aproval. “That is a very genourus offer, and we accept” Artemis replied “This is my friend Minerva, my younger sister Holly. My three younger brothers are named Julius,Thomas, and Martin. This is my bodygaurd, Butler.”
“Pleased to meet you, all of you.” Something in her voluminous purse beeped. “Well I have to go, Athena will show you to the house, and will attend you there.” She tured to the girl. “I’ve left you a list. And you’re still needed at The Saville.” And with that she scurried off.
As they piled into a limousine that would transport them to the Charybdis mansion, Artemis observed the girl, Athena. She was wearing sensible clothing, a plain blouse and a skirt. On her feet she wore sturdy, plain white sneakers. Her long black hair was pulled back into a ponytail. She looked smart, but awfuly unhappy. Once they reached the mansion, she directed them to their rooms, then gave them a tour of the house.

“I’ll call you when dinner’s ready.” She informed them, then walked off.

They all gathered in Artemis’ room and made themselves comfortable. Artemis turned to Butler. “So what do you know about the Charybdis’, and hopefully it won’t reflect their name. Everyone but Minerva looked confused. Aremis continued. “Charybdis was a monster in Greek mythology, who with another beast, would wreck ships and create storms. Hydra was also a mythical monster, and, if I remember correctly, was related to the Gorgon Medusa.”
“Well” Butler replied “From what I know, they’re honest people, even if Miss. Charybdis is a bit… enthusiastic.”
Miss, you mean that she is not married?”
“Divorced, three years ago.”
“Oh”
Do you think it’s safe for us to take these off?” asked Mulch, swatting the human garments. “The tag on this shirt is giving me a rash.”
“I think that for now it would be safe.” replied Artemis. “Me and Minerva have to go to the competion tomorrow, since we enrolled and it would be suspicious if we didn’t show up.”
Everyone agreed to that and just at that moment they heard the call for dinner. Mulch sighed, he had been so close to getting the annoying human garments off, and now he would have to wait even longer. Life was rough when you were a dwarf and friends with mud men.
Athena pulled the giant homemade pizza out of the oven. It was perfect, the cheese was melted, and the crust was crisp and warm. As she carried it to the table, she could almost hear everyone heave a great sigh of admaration. From everyone except the two eldest children. Then she realized that they must have never had pizza before. She smiled. She wished she could have stayed to watch. But unfortunatly, there were chores to be done.
Artemis looked aprehensivley at the large, round peice of bread covered in sauce and cheese, cut up into pie like peices.
“Butler, what is that” asked Artemis casually, as though he were testing the bodyguard. Butler knew better.
“It’s a pizza Artemis” he replied, chuckling. Artemis picked up his fork.
“No Artemis you eat it with your hands” Holly who was sitting on his other side corrected him. Artemis just stared at it. He noticed Minerva, who was sitting directly across form him picking up her fork. Butler quickly explained the concept of pizza to her. Both genii reached toward the food, hurriedly drawing out a peice. Then, looking at it like it was a wild animal that could spring at any moment, they took a bite, chewed and swallowed. Butler and Holly fought not to choke from laughter the rest of the evening.
Artemis was trying to find the bathroom, not because he really needed it, but to escape the laughter of Butler and Holly (the rest of them had been to busy devouring the food to notice what had happened to Minerva and Artemis.) He had decided to try and find Athena. He had found it very odd that she wouldn’t eat with them, she had borught out dinner, not a servant, and that when Hydra had been talking to them earlier she had said ‘She will attend you there’ and had mentioned a resturant called the Saville. He heard the sound of scrubbing and realized what must be happening. ‘It’s a shame’ thought Artemis ‘that she should have to live with such an awful woman, and that she makes her work just to keep her out of the way. At least she knows she isn’t really related t Ms. Charybdis.’ And with that Artemis decided that he should return to the table.
The alarm sounded through the attic. Athena rolled over in bed moaning. She was so tired. But she had to get up to make breakfast, walk her mother’s nasty dog, and rearrange furniture in the sitting room. That’s what her mother’s list had said. She willed herself to get out of bed. She got up blearily pushing open the door. She walked into the bathroom (there was one in the attic just for her so she wouldn’t disturb her mother in the mornings, who needed all the beauty sleep she could get.) and took a quick shower and brushed her teeth. Feeling slightly more awake, she threw on another blouse and skirt and headed down the stairs. As she walked down, she thought about her dream last night. It was one of thoses dreams where the person dreaming in on the sidelines, watching events unfold. It had started out with Butler standing in front of a hospital room door. A nurse carried two children out, and Athena could make out a boy. Artemis. She didn’t know exactly how she knew, but she did. Another nurse came out of the door, and took Artemis back in. The first nurse swore under her breath and started walking swiftly down the hallway still carrying the other child. Suddenly Butler’s soldier sense started tingling (another thing Athena just knew), and he ran after the woman with the other child. But he wasn’t fast enough. The nurse made it into a green car and it pulled away. Athena was just about to get a veiw of the kidnapped child’s face when she woke up. Now she could hear someone coming down the stairs.

“Athena” called Artemis as he came down the stairs. He had had a very strange dream that night. Athena, his parents, the twins, and him were sitting in the living room of Fowl Manner. His mother repeatedly told him ‘I was right wasn’t I’ And he kept nodding yes, smiling. Just then a woman in a nurse’s uniform came in and dragged Athena away. Butler raced after her, but he was to late. Then Artemis woke up. He had then crept steathily into Athena’s room. Grabbing her hairbrush, He had DNA to test. The test turned out posotive. He had a twin sister, and from what Foaly’s files said, (he loved to hack into the ceantuar’s computer) she was a genius too.
“Yes” came the reply. She appeared at the bottom of the stairs.”What?”
“I have some news”
“Really? Go ahead”
“You’re my twin sister”
“That explains my dream” He looked confused, so she related her whole dream to him. Just then Butler came bounding down the stairs.
“The drugs have just worn off. I have something very important to tell both of you.”
“We know” the siblings chourused.
“You do?” He replied, looking a litte disappointed. It was not often he knew something before Artemis. That mood didn’t stay around for long, and was replaced by an overflow of happiness, which was quite unusal for Butler. After he was done fussing over her, all three of them went into the kitchen for breakfast. Artemis and Butler filling her in on everything pertaining to her new life and family.
Holly walked blearily down the stairs. The shock that she got when she walked into the kitchen was enough to wake her up.
“Artemis, what in Frond’s name are you doing in pajamas?” Then she noticed his wide grin.”Are you all right? You look so…. normal” He did. His hair was a mess, he was still in his pajamas, something he would usually disapprove of. Luckily Athena didn’t hear her, and Holly resolved to remember to sound like a Mud Child next time. She cautiously sat down next to him, acting like any second he would pick up and ax and start attacking them all. This is m-, our sister Athena. Then he explained to her why he was in his pajamas and left to get dressed, before he could give her another chance to laugh at him. Holly turned to the Mud Girl.
“She’s not a genius, is she?” Holly asked Butler, in a wisper, dreading the answer.
“Same test scores as Artemis.” He replied, and Holly moaned.
These child prodogies were popping up as fast as the dandelions on her nieghbor’s lawn.

Chapter 7 Abduction

Mulch sighed in relief. Those awful mud man cloths were finally off, and he was about ot do what he loved best. Tunnel. As he dove into the earth, he didn’t notice the car pulling up the driveway.
Athena practically jumped out of the car and tore across the lawn tward the strange thing tearing it up. Artemis and Minerva had also just arrived from the competion, tore after her, but weren’t fast enough. Athena knew about People.
After things had calmed down and Root had stopped shouting long enough to let his face return to normal (and by that I mean normal for him, most people aren’t constantly pink) It was decided that she could be trusted.

AN:*Hudling in a cave somewhere VERY cold* Don’t ask me how I got from the jungle to the Artic. I don’t know. All I do know is that once again I have managed to evade the angry mob persuing me after a comment I was dumb enough to utter (about baseball once again) I just hope you enjoy the story since I have decided to update it. I have to go now. The seal talking me home it waiting. Ah, I can’t wait to get there. That is if the sharks don’t get me first.
